| "Dedicated To The Memory Of Ricky Wilson." (Wilson died of AIDS in 1985.) | |
| BOUNCING OFF THE SATELLITES, released following the untimely death of guitarist Ricky Wilson, has a far weightier atmosphere than the B-52s' other releases. While Wilson featured heavily in the recording of SATELLITES, it is obvious that things were not so bouncy in the band during this period. | |
| Songs such as "Summer of Love," "Detour Through Your Mind," and "Girl from Impanema" feature a curious combination of B-52s- styled vocals with a '70s disco beat. This is most evident on "Housework," a song that sounds (not unpleasantly) like disco-fied Roches. Most appealing are "Wig," a track reminiscent of the earlier "52 Girls," and "Theme for a Nude Beach." The latter would feel at home on an Austin Powers soundtrack. SATELLITES is an album best suited for B-52s completists. | |
