Belkin Wireless G USB Adapter

I got this for my downstairs computer that kept falling off line (with my network upstairs) it was a linksys and I replaced it with this Belkin Wireless G USB and so far, no dropping off the network. It was so simple and easy and quick ( took less than 10 minutes even with using the disk/software). Its working great and I would definitely buy another if I needed it. I do recommend this product and buy.com was super fast in shipping even though I didn't pay the extra to get it shipped fast, thats a good deal for sure.

The Belkin box in which this unit is shipped rates it as "good." If this is so I can't imagine the performance of "better" or "best." The installation to an XP system was effortless. I attached the unit to a USB port, inserted the installation disk and was immediately presented with a list of available signals. The range at which the unit picks up signals is outstanding.

I needed to add wireless to an older Dell desktop, running WinXP and the latest service pack. The unit was recognized and since I had read the other reviews, I didn't install the Belkin software that came with it. I let the Windows wireless utility manage the device and it has worked flawlessly. It has great reception and transmit speeds even though it's far from the router. I think that the list price is overstated, but at a third of that cost, this unit was good deal for me.

The Belkin Wireless G USB Network Adapter - F5D7050 was quick and easy to install. I like that it came with a stand and USB extension cable to get the unit away from the PC or Laptop which makes it easier to get a signal and avoids getting bumped or bent like it could get if sticking out of a USB port on a notebook computer. You can use it with or without the extension and stand. I use it on a notebook with Windows XP to connect to a Linksys wireless router.

Works great but setup instructions are lacking. Had to get help from a friend that already has one to set it up. also when turning it off it sometimes automaticly dials the last number called.

I had two of these, one is outstanding the other I took back. The one that works well is on a thin client, never an issue, no problems installing with XPE. I bought another for an XP machine, didn't use the included software and found that it didn't pick up the Cisco wireless signal until about 1 minute after booting into windows; well after the start programs tried to run (one needing network access). Obviously this wouldn't work for me, so I went back for the usual linksys USB NIC.

You never know what version will be delivered - from Buy.com or other vendors. Version 3 does not have Vista drivers. New WindowsUpdate for Vista installs a RALink driver and the device no longer works. You'll need to use the install CD to manually reinstall driver. Belkin must get their act together if they want repeat business. The online drivers cannot be used to install the device as you cannot extract the driver files only. Very frustrating product.

I agree to just install the driver and don't use the provided install disk. Vista will find the driver when you put the cd in the drive when asked.

I cannot emphasize this enough!.. Do not use the software utility that comes with the product. Just install the drivers from the CD and use the Windows Zero Config (WZC) Utility. Installing the drivers however disables the Windows wireless manager (called WZC). So you have to enable it again. Everything else was smooth. Good product, great packaging and good value for money.

I have used it in two machines for one of my customers and seems to work well... however, I want to check out the throughput a bit more.

The system works very well. It was a little touchy setting it up, but once set, it worked like a champ. The Buy.com experience was outstanding. Their price, the product and their super-fast mailing was great and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

After you get it working it works well, though performance seems to vary a bit. The design is very nice and will suit desktop and laptop users equally well. I could not get the included software to work on my WinXP SP2 machine. However, if you let WinXP handle the networking and only install the included drivers all is well.
