1 of 5 Really wanted to like this product Sunday, June 28, 2009
Bernard from Hyattsville, MD

I really wanted to like this product but it could not stay connected for more than 1 minute whenever I used it. It wouldn't stay connected long enough to complete a Skype test call. It is a sleek cool looking little gadget that just works poorly. I tried it on several networks and it just dropped every call after about 45 seconds. There are better products out there. This was just too early and too poorly thought through.

3 of 5 there's a better alternative for wireless Skype in Thursday, June 18, 2009
Mickey from Temecula, CA
This isn't a mark against this phone, but if all you really want is wireless Skype within the home, there is a better and cheaper alternative. You can get a USB to RJ-11 (phone) adapter, such as shown at http://www.von-phone.com/skype-adapters.php, among others. (Note that I have no financial interest in what I'm recommending, I'm just a satisfied user.) You just hook up the USB adapter to your computer, then hook up a regular cordless phone (well, the cordless phone's base unit) to the USB adapter. (If you have a landline, you can also hook it up to the adapter, and then the phone can switch between landline service and Skype service, but I don't even bother with that.) We also hooked up a headset to the cordless phone so that we can talk on Skype completely hands-free. What this provides is the ability to talk on Skype anywhere the cordless phone's signal can reach its base. We use it to talk on Skype while upstairs, while doing the dishes in the kitchen, or on the front porch. If we were gardeners, we could be out in the garden, pulling weeds and talking on Skype. Just like what much of what you wanted from this Belkin phone, but at a far cheaper price. Plus, if the cordless phone breaks down (especially the battery life), they are very cheap to replace. We've been using this setup for about four years now, and not had to replace a single thing (except for the headset, because several times we've accidentally gotten the cord caught on something and broken the headset).

2 of 5 It was a bad choice. I don't recommend it. Thursday, June 18, 2009
Xin from Newport News
I don't recommend to buy this device. I bought it 3 years ago because I like skype. It took me a while to decide if I should choice WiFi phone or a cordless+gateway phone (also free from a PC). I bought it ~$150. It is ok for talking if connected, the quality of voice is ok. But these are the problems: 1. Hard to hear the ring. 2. It frequently dropped WiFi connection and it will NOT renew connection. It shows a error sign on screen and frozen! 3. Battery is poor. I have to charge it all the time. 4. If talking too long, it becomes very hot. 5. Processing speed is slow. It take a long time to switch from page to page. Good thing: 1. It can talk. By charging on wall and with a earphone, I was able to talk hours. Suggestion to vendor: Please use a faster CPU for this device. please contact me if you (vendor) need more reference.

4 of 5 Phone is great overall Tuesday, May 19, 2009
Steven from La Crescenta, CA
I must say that it was very esay to set up. And it never disconnects from the wifi network. But the one thing that really gets on my nerves about this phone is the battery. It barely works for an hour of talk time so you have to be careful. So only have it on while you are at home and using it. With this phone you cannot leave it on all day and expect it to last very long when you get home. But other that I highly reccomend it.

3 of 5 good product but I find it expensive Friday, April 24, 2009
Nawal Tawfik from Foster City, Ca
It is very good, very net sound, no time lag, but I found out that some cellular phones like the iphone or some Nokia models, can download skype for free & use it the same way without having to pay 100$ for this device

5 of 5 Remarkable Phone Wednesday, April 22, 2009
LDN from Corpus Christ, Texas
I purchased one phone and liked it so much I purchased another and am thinking about getting another. The phone is easy to use and the sound quality is excellent. I contacted Belkin support regarding a question and received a quick and comprehensive response. Buyers should be aware that this product is not browser based so some public wifi's are not accessible. This phone has a speakerphone feature and accommodates a headset. A great value!

4 of 5 Generally worth the money.. could be better Monday, April 20, 2009
A Customer from Greendale, WI
Clear voice, easy to use and setup. Battery life is a bit short. Also the phone occasionally logs out and then logs back in making that "ooooP" noise - I can't get red of this occasional annoyance!!!

4 of 5 Very nice but has some minor issues Saturday, April 18, 2009
Bijan from Tampa, FL
Beside things that most people complain about like not having speakerphone, I suffer a little bit from getting disconnected and reconnected every once in a while. sometimes during the conversation and sometimes it does it for no reason, (I set static channel on my wireless router to make sure its not due to channel switching) but overall I have to say I'm impressed with the phone especially with the voice quality and the volume level. if I set it to maximum then I cant hold it on my ear! its so strong and easy to use. the buttons are small but I haven't had any problem with them, its stylish nice looking and functional.the battery stays well like ordinary phones/cellphones. I wish there was a charger cradle for it but its not a big deal. if you use it while charging it gets hot but that's not a big deal either. Other complain is that this phone only has three ringtones which gets out from the ear speaker. if you make it loud enough to hear it then it gets so noisy (too loud for that little speaker) and if you want to get rid of the noise then you have to lower the volume then you can't hear it well. I found a beep that works fine and use that as my ringtone. I have to say it sometimes stops working and just makes a noise (like TV antenna channels when there is no signal) and the only solution would be to turn it off and back on.Only two times I had to take the battery off to have it return to normal mode. in general its a very nice phone and well worth the money. I cancelled my Verizon service which saves a lot of money and also I don't have to pay all different communication taxes either. In conclusion I can say this phone is really good except for the following three issues: 1. random disconnect/connect from network (which causes a drop call if it happens during the conversation. 2. random hangs that causes the phone to go out of operation and make "ffffff" noise. 3.no acceptable ringtone that comes out nice from that ear speaker. Belkin should add an external speaker so that resolves both the speakerphone and ringtone issues. I hope this review could be helpful.

4 of 5 If only it has speakerphone Saturday, April 11, 2009
Linh from Meriden CT
I bought it March 2009 from BUY.COM for $99.99. It is a good product. It works. But holding any phone to the ear for a long time is uncomfortable. I wish Belkin could have added speaker phone to this otherwise fine product. --- By the way, two weeks later, I also bought the Netgear Netgear SPH200W WiFi Phone with Skype for $149.98, exactly to get this speaker phone option. Nice design and smaller that the Belkin's. But Netgear's has poorer battery life and echo my voice when using the speaker phone. I am just about to send it back. Oh, well -- can't always win with gadgets!

5 of 5 I am really impressed with this phone. Thursday, April 09, 2009
Geek Boy from Chicago IL
I am pretty happy with this phone. Works as advertised. I have used other skype phones before and this one so far has been the best. Turned it on and it just worked. Calls are about as clear as a mobile phone. My wife who is not very techy was able to pick up the phone and start using it right away. We got rid of Vonage and use this for our home phone. As far as stand by time it is 1-2 days which may not seem acceptable if you are expecting it to behave like mobile phone. But think about what this little guy has to do...it needs to keep a constant wifi connection open to your router at all times. This is a very power intensive task. Think about how quickly your lap or mobile phone's battery drains if you leave your wifi on. Considering this and the size of the battery in the phone. I would say that the battery life is great too.

5 of 5 a great Skype phone! Thursday, April 09, 2009
Kurt from Indialantic FL
This little phone really rocks! As an old Skype user I am delighted that I can now call from a mobile phone. Setup was first a little problem, but with the help from the Belkin technicians (in India!!) I got it connecting to my network. Support over the phone was just great, the connection excellent and a technician who took her (!!) time...features not necessarily found on most "Help" sites these days. Highly recommended.

5 of 5 Very pleased - performs as described Saturday, April 04, 2009
George from Palm Beach, Florida
No problems with volume, calls are clear, picks up signals well, very user friendly. I use this phone frequently in place of my cellphone - I use VONAGE and have set my skype-in number as a simul-ring on vonage. The WiFi phone become a portable extension to use around the house, when I'm at Starbucks, when I'm at our clubhouse, etc. I'm in Vegas at the Mirage and have been using the phone constantly here --- I travel with my own wifi-router which I set up in hotel rooms rather than using the hotel's wireless - my signals are stronger - and have been using the Belkin Skype Phone for calls. Met all my expectations and my experience has been better than other users described.

3 of 5 Nice product - but could use improvement Friday, April 03, 2009
Fritz from Phoenix, AZ
Of course, everyone is accustomed to a normal cellphone functionality, and I thought this Belkin phone would be similar in functionality to a cellphone. It has some similarities but not all. The battery typically lasts 1 or 2 days in standby - less if used to make calls. (A charger cradle would be nice.) There is a significant time delay during conversations - typically one second... I believe the time delay is less when using Skype via the computer, but I have no exact measurement. But, for convenience for using Skype without sitting in front of the computer, the Belkin phone is great.

4 of 5 Works fine but could be improved Saturday, March 28, 2009
A Customer from Ann Arbor, MI
The phone works fine with skype but could use some improvements: - A battery with longer stand-by time - A charging station in which to place the phone when not in use instead of a cable to plug in - A speakerphone, so others can listen in on a conversation. - Browser based authentication Aside from that, it works fine and allows you to make use of skype without having to rush to the computer every time.

3 of 5 Could be better. Friday, March 20, 2009

The bad: Poor volume control, often disconnects from my wireless network at home, short battery life, cannot be used with browser based authentication. The good: easy to set up and get started.

4 of 5 so far, so good... Saturday, March 14, 2009
Saleem from Buffalo, NY
It's working nice... no BIG problems with this product. Sometimes, drops the wireless connection but reconnects immediately. My biggest concern is the battery life, that is not so good. But overall it's a nice product and I am happy with that.

3 of 5 WIFI my EYE. Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Just to make this short, people cant hear you and the wifi connects and disconnects at will even though you may be sitting in one place. The only reason I still have it is that it did connect sometimes so I guess thats good enough for me.

5 of 5 Works as advertized Sunday, March 01, 2009
Dan from Tampa, FL
Great price from Buy.com; currently about the cheapest on the net. Good wifi handset for use with Skype. Bought mine solely for use at home as a phone replacement; easy to connect to router (Linksys WRT54GS rev2 using WPA2-AES security), holds good signal. Call quality seems to be excellent so far; this phone often gets slated for poor battery life, but I don't find it to be an issue at all - Seems to be a couple of days on standby. Couldn't care less about that to be honest, as its always on charge anyway. So long as you don't expect to be texting, want fancy ringtones, speaker phone, or any other guuci features, and just want a phone to make and receive calls, chances are you'll be happy with this.

5 of 5 Great product Thursday, February 26, 2009
A Customer from Clayton, NC
Had first tried a D-Link adapter with a phone, but it would not work with my Mac or my wireless network, so I had to return it and look for something that I could use with Skype without being connected to a computer or router. I got my Belkin Skype WiFi phone today and am very pleased by how easy it is to use. I am using Skype in place of a home phone and love that I can now actually use it without being at the computer!

5 of 5 Easy to Use Monday, February 23, 2009
A Customer from Salt Lake, Utah
I was trying to decide between a skype router adapter or this phone, I went with this phone. Easy to setup(I was making calls, 3 min after opening the box), easy to make calls, great sound quality. Two cons: I wish it had louder speaker settings, for when I am talking to grandma in England. And I wish the battery life was longer.

4 of 5 It works: Money well spent Monday, February 23, 2009
A Customer from Zanesville, OH
This phone is worth the $99. I agree with other reviewers: keys are small and ring volume is lower than most phones. But that really didn't bother me. With Skype In/Out and this phone you get "unlimited" incoming and outgoing calls to US and Canada for about $60 a year, without having to turn on a computer. Call quality is as good as cellphones (sometimes better).

5 of 5 Does what it's designed for Monday, February 23, 2009
Pat from Calais, ME
I searched around for a Skype phone that I could use and not have to deal with having my computer on or being attached to a bunch of wires. This phone works great for my needs. Not a lot of features but it never claimed to have them either. Call quality could be a little better but I expected as much with a VOIP. No complaints though, it's never dropped a call and everyone that I've talked to on it has said that they hear me fine. There is just a slight echo in my end, nothing intolerable though. Overall I'm very pleased with having made this purchase.

1 of 5 $100 bucks gets you a piece of plastic Sunday, February 22, 2009
Eric from Manassas, VA
The phone is cheap. Didnt come with any of the Skype features I thought it did. The sound quality is terrible. I've been told on many occassions that I sound like I'm far away when talking on it. The phone just feels cheap in your hands. I spent $150 on a belkin wireless router a while back which was a piece of junk too. I'm completely unsatisfied with this product, and done buying products from this manufacturer.

4 of 5 Nearly Perfect Wednesday, February 18, 2009
James from Dallas, Texas
Great phone overall. Works well from anywhere in the house using the home router. Much better than using a headset on a computer or laptop, almost like using a regular cell phone. Called family in Europe and they thought reception was better than my regular land line! Battery life could be better, found it better to shut off after calling to save battery or recharge. Could not use at work, because it needs to have a web browser to click on an agreement before use..not possible here. Otherwise excellent and saves lots calling overseas (watch out for calling overseas cell phones - Skype charges at least double or triple).

5 of 5 Nice solution for a PC-less Skype experience Sunday, February 15, 2009
A Customer from Long Beach, CA
Works as advertised, at least for the 3 weeks that I've had it so far. It's great to have a cell phone style unit for Skype! It's a little awkward to add contacts using the 9 keys, and especially painful to enter the wireless network security key if you're keen to use the full 64 characters! The flimsy rubber plug/cover over the USB port is a bad idea considering you'll be using that port daily as the only way to recharge the phone.

4 of 5 Good product, easy to use Sunday, February 08, 2009

Good product and it performs well. Unfortunately, I am in an area with very few wireless networks but it is functional. Another gadget to add to my collection; however, will utilize this on a regular basis. Great cost savings compared to other systems.

5 of 5 So far cheaper than Mylo and wokrs better on skype Saturday, February 07, 2009
Ben from Minneapolis, MN
I had mylo from sony but I did not like that it was to brighter while makeing calls. I have skype suscription which I can call to Mexico (main cities land land, all USa and Canada for 5.95 per month. Also, I bought a line from Mexico which I get calls but I forward it to my cellphone. Great! With a suscription it is possible to set up caller ID if you have a cellphone that recieves texts. I whish it could send texts and have an alarm.

4 of 5 Works well if you don't want your PC on to make sk Tuesday, January 27, 2009
BW from Hartford, CT
I have SkypeIn and SkypeOut. Without doing much research, I bought a USB phone from CIT. While the phone works fine, I tend to not leave my PC running, so I got tired of always having to have the PC on to use Skype as a phoneline. This phone works well. It is easy to set up, and connects automatically. My only gripes have been that the three ring tone choices are kind of lousy and it is hard to hear from a distance, however, if you carry the phone in your pocket, it shouldn't be an issue. Also, it has cut out a few times on me. Sound quality is very good, at least for what I hear. All in all, I'll pay $100 buck if I can then pay $3 per month for SkypeOut and another $2 for SkypeIn!

5 of 5 Great phone that's so easy to use Friday, May 09, 2008
Don G. from Mesa,Arizona
I bought mine because it appeared to be so easy to use. I first bought the Mylo Comm-2 and was amazed at how "UN" user friendy it was and I couldn't hardly hear it so after looking around I decided on the Belkin and am very glad I did. Mine last at least a day and a half on standby and is very easy to set up. I should never have bought the first one because I have a camera so I don't need that and have about 6 little mp3's so all I neede was a good little wifi phone. The Belkin does what it is supposed to do and does it very well... Easy to read the colored screen and I can hear the thing... a huge plus for me... Don't be affraid to buy this phone, it is GREAT..

4 of 5 Pretty satisfied Saturday, March 15, 2008
A Customer from Seoul, South Korea
For me, I turn the phone off when I know there's no wireless network nearby, so the battery lasts a long time. I'm not constantly talking or talking for an hour straight, so again, the battery life has been OK. Not spectacular, but not as bad as I thought, given all the prior comments. Second, when you connect to a wireless network, you have to stay put, or at least stay within the range of that network. Is the person who had dropped calls trying to use it in a car or bus? That just won't work. Ultimately, I prefer to use a computer with Skype, since I can get webcam that way. The phone, though, allows me to see if my loved ones are available when I'm walking about Korea, and I get to see their photo on screen. That's enough for me, and makes it well worth the price.

3 of 5 Where it works, it works! Saturday, June 02, 2007
astenv from kialua Kona, HI
I made a Skype call on the handset in less than 2 minutes after opening the package. In the Amsterdam airport, I cound not make it work even after paying $10 US for a wireless access password. In the Cario airport, it worked well. But never again in any city in Egypt. I have to train users on the other end to wait until I finish talking. If they or I start too soon, neither of us can hear the other. When the signal is weak, there is more of an echo than usual. Skype appears to be today where cell phones were 15 years ago. But it is an excellent buy and I will continue to use it.

4 of 5 Everything is fine, except...... Monday, April 16, 2007
A Customer from Albany, NY
I had it test with both roadrunner cable internet and verizon's FIOS. In both environment, it worked fine. If you make a call to SKYPE user, which means, to computer, or another SKYPE wifi-phone, sound quality is good. Sometimes, when call to cellular phone using SKYPEOUT, sound was discrete a little bit, but acceptable. Figured networks easy and well, and connected to my preferred network tight, so it didn't loose the signal, at least, in my house. I am pretty much satisfied. The only thing I mind is the battery. It didn't last as it said in the manual. The maximum was 1 hour 40 minutes, then I had to hooked usb cable to recharge it. When charged fully, it last about 1 day with stand-by, which means, you should not forget to recharge at least once a day. Belkin, Netgear, SMC has exactly same product, I mean, same wifi and same design, exactly same phone but different brand name. I don't know what's going on. Anyways, the price with NETGEAR is higher in the market. Belkin was the best choice with price, especially, when BUY.com had a rebate.

2 of 5 i really wanted this to work Tuesday, April 10, 2007
A Customer from chicago, il
on standby the battery lasted about 2 hours. belkin replaced it. the replacement is the same. it drops connection often. so you never know if it's "listening" or not. the sound quality is pretty good. but the software is glitchy. somehow i turned off the audible ring, and i can't turn it back on. it only vibrates. a lot of money for something that works so poorly. i'm hoping that a software upgrade is on the way.

5 of 5 Product is Great; Skype Service is Satisfactory Monday, March 19, 2007
Bret from Southwest Ohio
I can't seem to get away from a slight echo effect when using the Skype service. I've tried various equipment and internet connections (home, work, friends, etc.) I'm pretty impressed with this phone in some area and others are satisfactory. The battery has good standby life, but though I don't use the Skype service as much as other people, I have ready the the phone requires a daily charge if you use it a lot. The phone is not feature rich, but has most of the features you'd expect. Overall, I'm fairly happy with the phone and Belkin usually is always good at that. There are a lot of reviews online that I ready before deciding to go ahead and purchase this phone. A lot of them have lots of pictures, etc., so you can get a good idea of the look and features available. I do still feel that $149 is too high, but the tech bug bit me and I had to buy. I feel that a more fair price for a phone like this is in the $75 to $100 price range, so unless you really WANT this phone bad, I'd wait for the price to drop down into that range. Netgear has a similar model, but it runs about $50 to $75 MORE than this Belkin phone. Also noteworthy, I do not use SkypeIN service, ONLY SkypeOUT, so if you use SkypeIN, you might want to do more research to determine how well that service works with this phone before taking a $150 plunge.

5 of 5 Very Slick Design/Great Wi-Fi Phone for the Price! Wednesday, March 07, 2007
Jorge C. from Pompano Beach, FL
Pros: Great phone. I was surprised how quickly it found my network. One piece of advise for those with wireless secured routers, please check the IP of the Skype phone under Menu > Settings > Networks > Network Info once connected, and make sure to add it into the DMZ of your Router. OTHERWISE, the phone will not ring when someone calls you, they will go straight to your voicemail. I obtained this info from Belkin Tech Support since this problem happen to me. Quality of the sound is fair good, no delay, again, Skype could be temperamental some times. You could connect and use the phone using Skype or Boingo, so there are options. Cons: the maximum volume is still not loud enough for me, but maybe is just me. I would love to have a louder volume.

4 of 5 Perfect for International Calling Sunday, March 04, 2007
Jeffrey Loyd from New York, NY
I read a review that it was easy to set up and easy to use, so I buy this phone. That is 100% true. I was able to set up the phone in minutes and I have WEP security on my wireless router. The phone works great. The only issue is that the other party can hear an echo of their side of the conversation. Using Skype is a great solution to calling internationally. I recommend it highly.

5 of 5 "un-authenticated access" Monday, February 26, 2007
Road Warrior from Chicago IL
A great, rugged and easy to set-up unit, with one significant drawback when it comes to traveling: Most free-access and ALL paid-access WIFI services require some kind of browser-based authentication, even if it is just to agree to Terms of Service. Here's a top of my head list of all the places I can NOT use this phone: Panera, Borders, Barnes & Noble, McDonalds All Hilton family, Holiday inn, Clarion/Comfort, Marriott family, Red Roof, Microtel, LaQuinta, Hyatt hotels. Every one of a dozen airports I go through..... well i only have 500 words. I can't use it at any of these places, and i AM a BOINGO subscriber. Great for around the house though. Clear quality on medium to strong signal. Static starts at about 50% signal strength.

cherry from NYC, NY
Excellent phone for on the go. Started using it in less then 2 mins. Din't need the instruction at all. Finds the wi-fi quickly and connects even quicklier. Only its a little big in size on hand. I think they'll make them smaller in future. Overall great for the value, Netgeat charges over $200 for the same thing. Get One your Today!!

5 of 5 Wireless VOIP works Great Tuesday, January 23, 2007
REOBIZ Real Estate from Hillsboro,OH--Cincinnati,OH
Was looking at several wireless options to do Skype on the go without draging out laptop. After trying to complicate it more than necessary like considering a windows handheld device, I decided to give the Belkin a try. Totally impressed, even considering the 6/9 buttons are reversed due to a minor assembly glitch . For a guy that doesn't read instructions, I had it set up, programmed, and placed first call within three minutes out of box....
