1 of 5 broke down in less than a month. friend's did too. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 L. Martin from Houston, TX
provides great cooling when it works, but have a lot of issues.
1. the design of the whole thing. the fan is too close to the surface you have the fan on, so that if you use it on a bed or something soft (like your legs) you might have to put something underneath to lift it up a little bit so that the fan can have good air intake. i know that this fan probably wasnt designed to be used on a bed or a soft surface, so if you'll just use this on a table or whatever you'll be fine.
2. the blades of the fan itself are not sturdy. less than a month of non frequent and non-abusive use, the fan stopped working. upon closer inspection, i discovered that there was a hairline crack on one of the blades, causing the blade to rub against the side of the enclosure, and eventually making the fan stop working altogether.
3. the usb cable is a little short. i have a 13.3 inch laptop and i have trouble with making it reach where i want, probably have more problems with a 17 incher or even a 15.4 laptop.
4. the cable connection (the one under the cooling fan) is not that sturdy. she wasnt pulling on it or anything, but it seemed after a while that the connection was coming loose, and then it altogether stopped working. this was a problem with my friend's cooling fan. i bought mine at fry's here in the states and my friend bought hers at radioshack in united arab emirates and both of our fans died within a month.
the design is great, the collapsible stand underneath is a great feature, the fan does keep the notebook cool, but the product is not very well made. dont expect to have this last very long with you.

5 of 5 Keeps the laptop cool Sunday, May 03, 2009 belkin_power from salt lake
Good cooling from belkin. Light & sturdy. Keeps the laptop cool. When the belkin fan is running, the laptop fan stays off for most of the time. Without the cooling pad, the laptop fan is usually always running. It barely gets warm with the cooling pad. Works well with a 15.4" laptop, feels a little small for a 17" one. 5 of 5 Very Happy Customer Tuesday, March 31, 2009 Nicole P. from Hopewell, VA
I bought this item for my dad's birthday (Mar 2009) from eBay and he really loves it. He's not computer literate but uses it for his professional photos and plugged it up himself and stated that his computer works fine now. It kept shuting off whenever it was on our dining room table, which has a plastic cover on it. It would also shut down when it was on too long, overheating. Now he can keep working for as long as he likes! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Belkin Laptop cooling pad Sunday, March 08, 2009 A Customer from East Tawa, Michigan
Does exactly what you would expect. Easy to install right out of the box. Saw immediate results when I hooked it up. My Dell laptop runs much cooler and is preforming much better.
With rebate, this was an excellent value. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Cooling - But Noisy Thursday, February 26, 2009 Gerry from Trumbull, CT
This is a nice little unit and makes me feel better by cooling my laptop nicely. However, the fan is a bit noisy. But I guess I'll get used to that. Better cool than quiet. My only other complaint is the little stand that lifts it off the table for air flow. If you bump the laptop, the stand drops down and you have to lift the laptop back up again and reposition the stand. But look out! You'll stick your finger in the fan doing so. I guess for the price and keeping the laptop cool it is good enough. With the $10 rebate it cost me only about $17. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Keeps It Cool!!! Tuesday, February 17, 2009 Joshua Ontiveros from El Paso, TX.
This product does just what it says it does. It keeps my full size, 17'' laptop cool at all times while it's running. It hooks up to the usb port and draws power from there. It works well with only one fan. It's considered a best buy from Cnet. I bought mine at Costco for $20.00 bucks. Its a steal. Was this review helpful?

2 of 5 Not a good product Wednesday, September 03, 2008 Ganesan from Piscataway NU
Since it was Belkin Product I purchased it thinking it will be a quality one but I was wrong.
a) The design is so bad it gives you carpal tunnel syndrome on your wrists..
b) It is so uncomfortable to keep this on your lap with your laptop and type.
c) If you place it on a level surface and keep you laptop on it the height between the keyboards and your hand is so big that your wrists hurt in a few mins. I had to go to the doc before realizing this was the cause of it, when I stopped using it the pain went away.
d) The fan is supposed to keep the laptop cooler but don’t think it’s very effective.
e) It also has a plastic look.
f) The fan at the bottom also makes some noise when you start up and gets struck to the floor when you put it on a carpeted floor. Poor design as it’s exposed.
So overall it was a total waste of money. Save yourself some headache and trip to your chiropractor by avoiding this.

I bought it for my friend as a gift at the end of Jan. It is not working now. By reading the reviews, I saw someone has the same problem with me over here. You really have to think carefully before buying this item. If $25 is not a big deal for you, then just ignore my suggestion. Now I am thinking how to return this item or change a new one, since I bought it less than a month. Was this review helpful?
