5 of 5 KVM Switch Tuesday, October 31, 2006 meducated from El Paso, TX
I bought the Belkin KVM switch with attached cables and was able to install it very easily. The only glitch I had was that I had a PS2 mouse and keyboard and the switch uses USB. I purchased a wireless keyboard and mouse with USB connections and it worked without a problem. Takes a little getting used to the software switching from one computer to the other but the physical switch works well.
The only other consideration someone needs to know about is that because it relies on USB connections, if you are reinstalling your operating system, you will need to connect a PS2 keyboard and mouse as there will be no drivers for the KVM switch until after you have installed the OS. Once installed however the KVM switch works great.
I would recommend this product for anyone needing to connect two computers when there is only 1 monitor, keyboard and mouse. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Nice switch, too bad scroll lock is disabled Wednesday, November 10, 2004 A Customer from Seattle, WA
I bought this model based on the reviews of the PS2 model, and paid extra for the USB support. Unfortunately the 'scroll lock' feature is intentionally disabled on the USB model and you have to install Windows software for this to work or hit scroll lock 6 times, which is much less convenient than the 2 times that the PS2 model offers. If you're not using Windows on both of your machines, you might want to look at the PS2 model instead. Also, when a computer is rebooted, the switch will automatically switch to the computer that is still on, which can be annoying when you're trying to reboot a system. Was this review helpful?

The Belkin F1DK102U is easy to use and switches nicely between two computers using the software switching method. The mechanical switch on the unit does not function nearly as well. The video quality is very poor when used with a Dell E152FP flat panel display even at the display's native resolution of 1024 X 768. Overall, this is not a very good product. Just recently purchased this product and this product rocks! Easy to install and I don't need to buy any cables! I looked at IOGEAR, D-Link, and Linksys but decided on Belkin because I've always trusted the Belkin name when it comes to KVM switches. Highly recommended! Was this review helpful?
