| | | Features: DVD, Widescreen, Music Video, Deleted Scenes The Man: Austin Powers, swinging photographer by day, International Man of Mystery by night. The Mojo: Austin Powers life force, the secret behind his libido, has been stolen by his arch nemesis, Dr. Evil. The Mission: Austin must time travel back to the Swinging Sixties, regain his mojo and save the world from destruction.BRIEF: The year is 1999 and Austin Powers (Mike Myers) is honeymooning with the smashing Vanessa Kensington (Elizabeth Hurley) when he receives an explosive surprise that returns him to single swinging status. To make matters worse, Dr. Evil (Myers) has returned to Earth from the frozen recesses of space and is hatching a new diabolical scheme to annihilate the world. It seems Dr. Evil uses a newly developed time machine to travel back to 1969, where he steals Austin Powers mojo, rendering Austin...powerless? Luckily, British Intelligence has developed a unique time machine of their own - a psychedelic Volkswagen Beetle. In the biggest Austin Powers adventure yet, the International Man of Mystery must travel back to the Swinging Sixties, track down his mojo and thwart Dr. Evils plot to destroy the world. Of course, along the way, Austin meets his match in CIA operative Felicity Shagwell (Heather Graham), a fab chick, a hot spy and a fantastic motivation for restoring his libido.
 Editor's Note
In his second screen adventure, groovy superspy Austin Powers (Mike Myers) returns to 1969, where one after another hilarious gag is worked into a silly, stumbling, knee-slapping plot. This time around, Austin Powers' arch-nemesis Dr. Evil (also Myers) is joined by a midget-sized clone of himself, Mini-Me (Verne Troyer). Having successfully stolen Austin's "mojo" (his libido), Dr. Evil can concentrate on his ultimate mission of destroying the world. Meanwhile, Austin, with the help of gorgeous agent Felicity Shagwell (Heather Graham), must now not only contend with Dr. Evil, but also the small but vicious Mini-Me. Also in this installment, Evil's son, Scott (Seth Green), finds out who his mother is, and Mike Myers stars as a third character--rotund and truly disgusting Scotsman Fat Bastard. More raucous fun in the spirit of its 1997 smash predecessor, AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME once again thrills audiences with its inexhaustible humor.

 | Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me - DVD Review By: Christopher Null - filmcritic.com DVD Reviews Published on: 11/21/2008 4:31 PM | | Instead of Bond, it’s super-groovy spy Austin Powers (Myers) making his triumphant return to the silver screen, the British secret agent frozen in the 60’s and thawed in the 90’s, where/when he returned to active duty. The Spy Who Shagged Me picks up right where the original left off, with Dr. Evil (also Myers) banished to space in his Big Boy statue/spaceship, and Austin settling down with new wife Vanessa (Elizabeth Hurley, in a cameo re-appearance)....read the full review |

5 of 5 WTF!!! Monday, January 24, 2000 A Viewer from San Diego Ca.
Ok, I realize this movie contained quite a bit of sex and hinted at nudity etc., but thats what made it so funny! The movie-going populace of today has seen all of the 'clean' comedy and simply doesn't find it funny anymore. Mike Myers brand of comedy Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great movie Sunday, December 26, 1999 DanK from Orlando
GOD BLESS DVD!!! My brother got this DVD for X-mas...And I ended up playing more on the menu screen for the better part of 3 hrs. The picture is great, the sound is awsome, the menu screen is loaded with sooo much (good) crap, and the comedy will leav Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Yeah baby, Yeah! Saturday, December 25, 1999 david from Vancouver, Washington
Mike Myers is one funny fellow! Austin Powers was a very funny movie and this one follows up the first effort very well. All of the stick and stunts are back in this sequel plus more pretty young things for him to persue. Dr. Evil is up to his old ways and has two new co-baddies to help in his evil ways. Very entertaining film but definitely not a movie for children. The movie is basically about Uranus and I am not talking about planets here. If you like Mike Myers and get a big laugh during bowel movements or have a fetish for be-hinds this film is a must have. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Austin Power does it again! Tuesday, December 14, 1999 neil from Portland, Oregon
Basically, this movie is the same plot as the first one, but I didn't care! I laughed uncontrollably. Kudos to Mike!
And to the lady below who rates it a 1 out of 10 who has NEVER SEEN THE MOVIE, you are the type of person whois causing this country the biggest amount of grief. Why can't you leave people alone? Shielding kids from this only screws them up later in life. The key is EDUCATION, but since you have none I wouldn't expect you to understand how much of an advantage this can give someone. 5 of 5 BEST MOVIE EVER! Sunday, December 12, 1999 A Viewer from Newport Center, Vermont
This movie was the best movie ever. It was so funny, and I intend to watch it every day. I liked the 20 min. of scenes that they threw into the dvd on top of the movie. I knew it was going to be a good, and I couldn't wait untill I got it in the mail. YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS MOVIE. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 a must see on DVD Tuesday, November 30, 1999 Perkins from Newport Beach, CA
This movie was great, and if you have seen all of the bonds it's even better. Heather Graham's acting was pretty bad, but she looked great. The movie follows only one rule; everything must be humerous. This movie was enjoyed by myself as well as my mot Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Funny but stupid Sunday, November 28, 1999 DWBball50 from Lombard, IL
This movie should be banned from all kids. It has no value in society. I will admit, it is very funny but it has to be one of the stupidest movies ever made. (Right next to Mars Attacks :) ) If you don't have it, don't buy it. If you do, I would throw it away. Bad movie. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Austin Back In Action (Yeah baby!) Thursday, November 25, 1999 Ben Dover from Blair Witch Woods
I thought the movie was excellent! It was a great spoof of the Bond movie. It was well done with great actors and lots of humor. My friend Michael probably would give it a C+ when I say A-. Note: Michael is a tough rater. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 hilarious Friday, November 19, 1999 Jim from West Lafayette
Great movie! By no means a 10, but still great. Many of the jokes are rehashed from the first movie, but they're still just as funny.
As a response to those who may have said 'this movie is about sex' and made 'just to make money'... well, you're obviously missing the point if you think this movie is encouraging kids to go and have sex. It's a comedy filled with innuendos, no more than most movies or television shows. Mike Myers is a great comedian who I have yet to see sell out as you implied. (Haven't seen him among the likes of 1-800-CALL-ATT starts, yet). Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Shagadelic! Tuesday, November 16, 1999 chenm from Ann Arbor, MI
Austin's back and funnier than ever! Heather Graham, on the other hand, giggled way too much and her acting was definitely not up to par with the beautiful, yet sophistcated Liz Hurley. But the new s**ts n giggles combined with the already classic punchlines of the first Austin Powers makes it a must-have for all die hard fans. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 This movie mopped the floor with the original!! Tuesday, November 16, 1999 A Viewer from Wallingford, PA
When I first saw Austin Powers, I was partially disappointed, because of the hype behind it, saying that it was the 'funniest movie of the year'. When I heard that there was a sequel, I almost knew it was going to be five times worse than the original, as most sequels are. When I saw it with a friend, I was in hysterics!!! This movie is awesome!!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 GET A GRIP Tuesday, November 16, 1999 Dj Amp B from P-Town, FL
This movie is 100 times better than the original. Comedy through and through. All the 'Holy Rollers' and 'Better Morales' Poeple need to suck it!!! If you don't want your children watching this movie, then have some parental control and don't let them. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 What can I say?? Monday, November 15, 1999 tranten from California
I gave it 6 on cinematography and plot, becuase... well, to be quite honest, it's not really an award winning script, or camera work. The acting deserves a 9, however, souly do to the fact that Mike Myers plays 3 parts in this movie, all different. He does a wonderful job of it.
Overall get's a 10, becuase: It's a rad movie. Sure it's not a tear-jerker and it doesn't give me the shivers, but for what it is, a fall-off-your-bum-laughing comedy, it's running on all 8 cylinders. I loved it, and will continue to for many years to come. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 The Funniest Movie Ever Made Sunday, November 14, 1999 Jordan Hatch from Mesa, AZ

4 of 5 Great movie if you liked the first one! Sunday, November 07, 1999 A Viewer from Landisville, NJ
Dear Mr/Mrs. Wayneboro: Grow up and get a clue!
This movie was not made for kids, parents who let their pre-teen aged kids watch this movie need to realize it wasn't meant for them. Just because it isn't appropriate for all ages we should gather together as a society and not watch it and enjoy it!?? Go live is some government-run county that tells you what you can and can't watch. Saving Private Ryan isn't a good movie for young kids either, should we ban that too!?
Anyways, real funny movie! Worth watching several times, so get it on DVD. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 In response to a viewer from Waynesboro, Ms Sunday, November 07, 1999 Jon Cox from Vancouver, WA
This movie is NOT all about sex. It is a comedy. I think if you were to aim the blame on something, try American Pie, or movies like that where TEENS are TRYING to have sex. And that is the whole idea for the movie. Austin Powers is just fun, it is making fun stuff out of the 60's. It is FUNNY! It is a joke, not real. I don't think any kid in their right mind would walk around to people and say 'Fancy a Shag?'. Anyway, its a funny movie, and thats all it should be. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 To the viewer from Waynesboro Sunday, November 07, 1999 A Viewer from Conroe, TX
Both Austin Powers movies are some of the funniest films ever made. The humor is both simple and complex, obvious and subtle. Unfortunately, there are those who are prone to blaming society's ills on film and theatre and not take responsibility for themselves. The responsibility for raising children lies with their parents, not Hollywood. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Hillarious Saturday, November 06, 1999 JaneHop from Orem, UT

5 of 5 Lighten up and watch Monday, November 01, 1999 A Viewer from Morgantown, WV
The movie was darn funny. The Women are hot, the scenes have nothing to do with anything socially redeeming, and that's why it's good. It's not a kids movie, its for adults, and darn........some people should just lighten up. Have fun for once, MS. It's relaxing. Was this review helpful?

Great movie. It's fun and hillarious, unlike a certain person from Waynesdale, MS. btw, this is the first DVD with Dolby Digital EX. If you have an EX decoder (e.g., Lexicon digital controller with EX upgrade), you can get center, rear channel surround. Woohoo!!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 This is the best movie ever. Thursday, October 28, 1999 Jj1197 from lighthouse Point, Fl.
Ok, first of all, to the person who thinks that this movie is a disturbance to all of the children, you are wrong. I myself am 17 years old, I do not see movies and then try to relive what is in them. If you have kids and do not want them to do things from the movie, Don't let them see it. I am sick of people blaming hollywood for all of the bad travesties that have happen. It is not there fault. You should have control over what your children see, if they cannot handle it, you should not let them watch it. This is one of the greatest movies ever made, it is non-stop funny, everyone should buy it. Was this review helpful?

3 of 5 dont believe the hype Tuesday, October 26, 1999 Jim from Butler, NJ
This movie was so-so at best. The first movie you cared about Austin Powers and his relationship with Ms. Kensington. And were rooting for them to stop Dr. Evil's plot to control the world. The first film is one of the greatest comedys of all time. The second film was about as good as a saturday night live rerun. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 For the person that can't take a joke Saturday, October 23, 1999 A Viewer from Indiana
This is addressed to the person that obviously has no sense of humor and is interested in destroying funny movies such as this one. If are so concerned about your children do then then blame yourself, not movies. Movies, nor TV or any other kind of media, is to blame for what happens to kids. If anyone is to blame its parents such as yourself, they are the ones that set examples. I am guessing that it is also people like you that shelter kids from the real world, these are the type of children that grow up not knowing what to expect, can't survive in the real world, and make mistakes you are descibing. The bottom line is that people like you need to lighten up, this is America, a place where we can enjoy movies such as Austin Powers, if you don't like it then fine, but don't blame it for somone else's fault. Laugh a little, it will help you. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 If you want to laugh, this is the ticket! Saturday, October 23, 1999 A Viewer from Virginia Beach, Va
Thsi movie is exactly what you think it is, SNL style comedy on a big screen. Classic Austin Powers film. Don't look to change the world after seeing this one, but do expect to walk away in a better mood, very funny film. *How can the critic from Waynesboro review this movie? They said themselves they have not seen it. Lighten up I say...It's a film... Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Take control of your actions but buy this movie Friday, October 22, 1999 nurnbrgr from Urbana, Illinois
Contrary to the previous detrimental statement, this movie alone will promote nothing but a good time had by all. I, for one, did watch the movie and found it very entertaining. I especially found the blunt crotch jokes funny. And for those of you who like making fun of bad acting, watch Heather Graham for a little while. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 AUSTIN POWERS 2 LIVES UP TO ORIGINAL Monday, October 18, 1999 Phantom982 from Clayton, Ca
Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me almost equals the hillarious original. Mike Myers is brilliant in three roles, especially as Dr. Evil, one of the greatest characters ever created. Heather Graham is hot, but her acting isn't in this one, but that's okay, beacause she's great to look at. Overall, great fun. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 The Best Movie Ever Saturday, October 09, 1999 apmarlow from Snohomish, Washington
Ok, Austin Powers was the absolute greatest movie ever made. The only way to ever make a better movie would be to make another. And they did! Austin Powers II, The Spy Who Shagged Me, is currently the greatest movie of all time. There will never be a better movie on the market, unless... they make Austin Powers III!!!! What would a good name be? Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Totaly shagadelic!! Friday, October 01, 1999 James Farley Jimblow3169 from Swadlincote Derbyshire
When hearing that they were bringing out a sequal to what I believed to be one of the funniest movies I have ever seen I was very excited, and after seeing this film I was not disapointed! It was a lot better than the original film with some new gags and some new characters such as 'fat b***ard' and 'mini-me' who added to the films greatness. This film never got boring and constantly kept making me laugh out loud, if you don't see this film your life is incomplete. All I can say is I can't wait for Austin Powers 3 as 'The Spy Who Shaggged Me' once again leaves it open for another sequal! Was this review helpful?
