When my son spilled milk on my laptop keyboard I couldnt get it to do anything. The liquid had fried some components inside. I had several thousand pictures on this laptop that I needed to recover. I searched all over for something and ran accross this little device. I plugged it in and it started reading the laptop hard drive immediately. In less than a few minutes I had recovered all the data from the drive! Since then, Ive also recovered some data from a couple really old laptop computers. This is a truly awesome product. Its worth every penny. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works just as advertised Wednesday, March 18, 2009 A Customer from Washington DC
The Apricorn converter does just what it says it will do. No problems at all. I gave it only a 4, however, for two reasons. First, I later learned that there are other brands (like Newer Technology) that will handle both hard drives and optical drives, which would be even more convenient. And second, it would have been helpful in Apricorn had supplied some sort of case or packet to keep the converter with the cables and such that it needs.
But those are small matters. If this converter meets your needs, you should have no concerns about ordering it. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great product Monday, March 09, 2009 Josef Bartos from MD
Only disappointment I have you can't clone a partition - it wipes of the entire disk resizes the partitions, but - the new disk works without a flaw. Was this review helpful?

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Works great as designed Saturday, February 21, 2009 A Customer from San Francisco, CA
Received the unit within days of ordering. Great processing and shipping by Buy.com. The unit operated as designed. I just had to install the included software and proceeded to clone my 80GB 3.5" IDE boot drive through the unit to a 500GB 3.5" IDE drive. Just follow the instructions for powering the drive and drive jumper settings, and after cloning removing the cloned drive before booting again. My original drive booted as normal and I then powered down and installed the cloned drive and it booted like a charm. Easy to clone your boot drive for emergency backup use like I wanted. You could also use this as a USB adapter as an external drive if you wanted, it just would not be enclosed. Windows XP recognized the drive attached to the Apricorn unit. Would recommend to anyone needing to clone a drive. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good Value for Money Wednesday, February 18, 2009 Thandrr from Brecksville,OH
This product works as stated.Note: This is an adapter and NOT a drive enclosure that attachs any hard drive to another computer with USB 2. Cloning software works perfect.

5 of 5 Great tool for when your USB drive dies Tuesday, February 03, 2009 A Customer from Florida
We all use USB drives to backup our puters, right? Well.... My USB drive died. So I bought one of these and was able to recover all my data - turned out the actual SATA hard disk was fine and is now in my Desktop. Recycle...
Tested on Mac and PC 100% Was this review helpful?

This is my second Apricorn product with the EZ
Gig II cloning software. I believe that every computer owner should have this. When a computer is new, we all know that it takes a lot of time to get all of the additional programs loaded as well as to set up the computer to work exactly as you want it to. Then, if you experience a very serious problem with its operation (corrupting virus, won't reboot no matter what you try, etc.) you must reinstall the operating system along with all of your programs again. As you may have experienced, it can take several hours to start over. But not with EZ Gig II. You set the boot sequence of the computer to boot from a C.D. and then load the EZ Gig II C.D. Follow the very simple commands to access your computer's image that you have previously created and saved on your USB external hard drive. Then, the EZ Gig II program takes over and flawlessly reinstalls the operating system, programs, settings and everything in about 30 minutes or less back to the computer. It has never once failed to work for me. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Product! Friday, November 21, 2008 Renegade IT from Daly City, CA

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 What a time saver! Monday, September 08, 2008 Brainerdscpas from Brainerd, MN
I never new transferring an entire hard drive including system operating files could be so easy. This unit is super easy to install and even easier to use. With the adapter compatible with all drive interfaces, all you need to know is what type of drive you need, and available usb port and CD ROM drive and you are good to go. The only one bad thing about the device is the mutant short 6" power cord that comes with the unit. It is a standard cord, so I just replaced it with one from an old PC. The cord works fine, it just didn't seem right watching the power source hanging down from my wall outlet. If you ever want to make a complete backup or copy of a drive, this is the tool for you. 5 of 5 Greate tool to clone your hard drive Monday, September 08, 2008 joewshen from Houston, Texas
This product works perfectly as described by the manufacturer. However there is one important thing left out from the instruction, i.e. before using the product, you must partition the new hard drive to its maxmum size if the drive is brand new unpartitioned, and larger than 32 GB. Otherwise, you'll get only 32 GB on the destination drive. For the product irself, I would give it a 5. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Saved the day Saturday, September 06, 2008 sightseer from Houston, Texas
I had a laptop computer that had a failed main board. I had removed
the hard drive which I thought was useless, meaning I no longer
had access to the software on it. Until I discovered this device.
Now, if I want to get emails or software from the hard drive, I
merely hook it up as a USB drive (A large one) & copy the files
I'm needing. This thing has saved me hours & money!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great! Tuesday, September 02, 2008 Rocky from Staten Island, NY
Product works as described by manufacturer. Excellent software included. Easy to use. I was able to clone my hard drive and save the cloned drive to get back up and running without any down time in the event of any new problems. I actually installed the cloned drive to make sure it worked. I made the original drive the back up. Software was similar to Seagate when you buy a new drive. The software is a free download at Seagate or Apricorn. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy hard drive cloning tool Tuesday, July 15, 2008 A Customer from Paso Robles, CA
I used the DriveWire disc cloning dock, cables and software to clone the hard drives on both my and my wife's laptop PCs. We've been using PCs for over ten years and the "cloning" went faultlessly. My wife prefers to get "professionals" to undertake tasks like this, but after she saw how easily I was able to update my HD, she bought a new HD and we did hers. We were able to update my ATA interface HD and her SATA interface HD. Was this review helpful?

2 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Excellent Product but boot from disk Thursday, June 05, 2008 A Customer from minneapolis, mn
The product worked very well however it has 2 modes. In mode 1, you load on a windows platform and run the software. This didn't work. The other mode is you boot up on the CD and run the software from the CD. This worked like a charm. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Amazing little device! Monday, May 19, 2008 Linda from Gloucester, VA
After the initial installation problem (which was handled very well by the Apricorn tech support), the device did an absolutely amazing job of literally cloning my entire hard drive to a brand new hard drive. Pretty darn slick I think!
And for the price, you just can't go wrong. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 This product does what it was designed to do Saturday, May 17, 2008 stees4 from Freeport, Illinois
I ran into some complications that were caused by Dell Computer. I was able to get good support from Apricorn to resolve these issues. While this device works great with the 2.5 Laptop drives, there is a problem powering the 3.5 Desktop drives with this device. Once I hooked up an old Desktop computer power supply to power a 3.5 Desktop drive, I could then Clone to this drive as well. Maybe Apricorn could work on this problem, and develop a better way to Clone both 2.5 and 3.5 drives. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Extremely Handy Product Tuesday, May 13, 2008 ian from Paducah, KY
I had a number of various hard drives laying around the house with no practical use for them since I switched to a Macbook Pro. This device allowed me to use those hard drives for raw storage. Works as advertised. The power supply is a bit large and cumbersome, but understandably necessary. This is a small price to pay for such a versatile product. I have not used the cloning software yet, but am familiar with SuperDuper, and think that its inclusion only adds to the value. Pick one of these up and throw it in your laptop bag. You'll be glad you did. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Finally a significant jump forward from ghosting Saturday, March 15, 2008 Roger Childs from Broomfield, Colorado
I was extremely pleased with this device. It performed flawlessly copying 2.5 inch drives to 3.5" drives as well as to like drives. I also copied a 250 gig SATA drive to my brand-new 500gb SATA drive, swapped the two and booted flawlessly. It is so easy to run the copying or cloning process from Windows or from the boot CD that comes with the product. It seems to only want to work with USB 2.0 as I did not have success trying to copy from an older notebook that had only USB 1.0 ports. I considered buying a PCMCIA card that would allow a USB 2.0 connection, but wasn't sure if the drivers could be loaded from a bootable CD. I had numerous 60gb, 100gb and 160 GB drives laying around and now they are all backup clones for each of my computers. Finally, an awesome advance. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Very handy tool Saturday, March 01, 2008 Dennis C. from Rock Island, TN
This little device offers a convenient means of connecting to another system nearly any drive from a laptop or desktop. Overall, it does exactly what it is advertised to and it works quite well. I'd like to see it come with a case to carry the components in though, and a power cord that is much longer (the original is only about 6 inches long, but I've substituted one from an old computer that works great). 4 of 5 Gerat Item Saturday, March 01, 2008 Bob from Pennsylvania
Pros: It does everything it claims. Software was easy to set up, and the device is simple to use. Tech support was very helpful and quick to respond. (See "cons"...)<P>
Cons: The only thing to be careful of is that there is nothing to support the drive besides the interface it plugs into. I am careful when working with things like this, but still the 2.5" interface on my DriveWire started to crumble and break away at one end, so I had to send it back to the manufacturer for warranty replacement. This could possibly be a common weakness of these devices, but I haven't seen any forums that discuss it anywhere on the web. Was this review helpful?

Saying Goodbye to Norton Ghost that I have been using for years...
The hardware supports all kinds of Hard Disks except SCSI.
The software that came with it is a big plus. Supports Vista/XP, external USB HD, networked HD, FAT32 & NTFS file system...Much easier then Norton Ghost.

This product is the newest version of an older idea that could only handle IDE drives. This one can handle all the new types SATA/PATA with exceptional ease. You can extract data from an old hard disk that can no longer boot to Windows by just plugging it into the USB port of another PC. You can also upgrade your 20 GB to 300GB with extreme ease by just moving all the data from the old to the new hard drive using the enclosed software. I don't think it gets better than that.

5 of 5 Apricorn DriveWire Universal Hard Drive Adapter w/ Monday, December 03, 2007 dwelch from Greenville, SC
Excellent product. Allows me to use any number (not all at once of course) of almost any type of hard drive as an external back up for all my data and clone my primary hard drive as a back up in case of a drive failure. Works with laptops and desktops; 2.5" and 3.5" drives; and with three types of drive interface. GREAT PRODUCT! a must for every serious computer user. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Kinda works Saturday, June 16, 2007 Sean from Cleveland, OH
It worked a few times for me. I like how more than one hard drive can be used. The product stopped working for me after 2 weeks of having it. Windows only recognizes hard drives I connect as USB devices. Was this review helpful?
