It is much smaller than what I imagined. Have used it for a little more than weeks with sandisk SD and sony memory stick and it has functioned very well with both. One can also write to the flash memory from the computer. Overall quite satisfied. Received the item in <48 hrs from ordering. Was this review helpful?

This card reader is great for taking along if needed and it eliminated the need to use one of the bays on my PC. All I do is plug it in to a USB and it is ready to use. It reads most card types. So easy to use and inexpensive too. Was this review helpful?

4 of 4 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Works Great! Thursday, February 19, 2009 mplsFarmer from Savage, MN
Just insert your media card into the Aluratec adapter and then plug the adapter into your PC's USB port. I successfully used it with Sony Memory Stick (MS), Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo with and WITHOUT the Pro Duo Adapter, Secure Digital Card (SD), and micro secure digital (microSD) card WITHOUT requiring an adapter. It does NOT have a port big enough for those huge Compact Flash (CF) cards. The adapter also does NOT state that it recognizes the new micro secure digital high capacity cards (SDHC). I also don't have one to check it out.
I bought this because my PC's media card reader fried and it would cost way more to replace it. This is a cheaper solution. There isn't any red light indicating that the PC recognizes the adapter; however, if you have your PC's sound turned on, you will hear the standard device connect "ding-ding" sound when you plug the adater into the USB port and when you remove it from the port. 3 of 3 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Works great for compatible memory Sunday, February 15, 2009 John Miller from Tempe, AZ
This is a very handy and small adaptor. It works great for the memory types with which it is compatible. The reason it's being offered at such a low price is that it isn't compatible with the new HC models of SD cards. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works great Saturday, February 07, 2009 Bob from Oklahoma City, OK
Don't need the camera adapter cord now nor the camera. Just take the memory stick out of your camera, plug it in and review. Was this review helpful?

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Good product, but could be better Thursday, January 22, 2009 Caleb from New York
I brought this card reader with a 2G sd card. I can easily access my sd card thru this reader. I like it very much. Howeverm, it might be better works with SDHC cards. I tried it with my 8G sd card, but not responding at all. So, if you have SDHC cards, 4G and up storage, this one won't work. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product for the price Wednesday, January 21, 2009 A Customer from Birmingham, AL
I bought this card at BUY.COM for $8 and it worked perfect right out of the box. It's plug and play at its best. Highly recommend this card reader. Can't go wrong. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Worth The Money Wednesday, January 21, 2009 Zowie from Buford, GA
This product is worth the price. Works great, just plug n play. The only downside and that's my fault, is it's not a writer also.
But overall it's a good buy. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Product Sunday, January 18, 2009 Bob from Midwest City, OK
The best thing is you don't have to look for your different camera adapters. Just take your memory stick out of the camera and plug it in. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Just what I needed Friday, January 16, 2009 A Customer from Avon, NY
All I needed was a reader for my camera. I generally use the camera at work for web pages. This works on my keyboard USB port, so the cable length is perfect. I know it is working because the disk appears on my desktop (Mac). simple effective. Just what I needed Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 MiniSD USB2.0 Multi-Media Card Reader Tuesday, January 13, 2009 A Customer from Omaha, NE
This came within days of purchase so even with the free shipping I recieved the packaged before the week was up. Easy to use, trasnfers to and from card and PC with no problems. I agree an incdicator light would be useful but for this product not necessary. overall even though the materials are a lil flimsy it's a great product for the price and I'm considering buying a second one as a backup.

3 of 5 Aluratek MicroSD / MiniSD USB2.0 Multi-Media Card Monday, January 05, 2009 Cif from Chester, NY
Works with memory stick duo pro (1 to 4 gb) and Mac OS 10.5. Haven't tried any other media. Would be nice if it gave some indication that the card has made contact. Card can feel like it is in, but it's not. Something like an LED lighting when contact is made would be an very helpful improvement. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Max 2GB otherwise great. Monday, January 05, 2009 A Customer from Boston, MA
I was a bit dissapointed when I put in my 4 GB SD card from our camera and got an unrecognized something or other error. Basically if you are using it for a 2GB or less cards it works (since it did the job for a 2GB card) but I don't think it mentions it anywhere that 2GB is the max so just thought I would let people know. Other than that can't beat the price. Right and now I just saw the latest review and I will update my ratings accordingly. (lower) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very easy to use. Monday, January 05, 2009 Rena from Wyncote, PA
This is the best card reader I've every purchased. In the past it required some type of software to use a card reader. Now it's plain and simple, just plug it in, insert your card and pictures are download to what ever folder you want. I used it the a 2GB memory stick. I love it and would recommend it to everyone. 5 of 5 I love this card reader!! Monday, January 05, 2009 stacy6309 from Telford, PA
I have so many electronics and all of them have different size cards. I usually have to find the cords for all the devices and then plug them in and it can be a pain! This reader fits my SONY memory stick, my MicroSD, and my daughter's SD card from her camera!! It really is so much easier!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great value, very satisfied Sunday, January 04, 2009 MabOfFey from St Louis, MO
Easy to use, clearly labeled, very fast...just ordered a second one for my parents. It is a bit of a lightweight...I don't expect it to last forever, but the price was right and the function exactly what I was hoping for. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Value Sunday, January 04, 2009 Gary from Tijeras NM
Great little item allows you to bypass your PDA, phone, camera or mp3 players sync software and hook up directly to your computer for uploads and downloads. Just wish I would have noticed it doesn't accept full size cf cards, just sd, mini sd and micro sd. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Doesn't work with Macbook Air Sunday, January 04, 2009 JK Scheinberg from New York, NY
Bought this for the small size for traveling. Sadly, while out of the country on vacation I found out it doesn't work at all with the MacBook Air and an SD card. Not sure about other types of cards. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works for what I need it for. Sunday, January 04, 2009 A Customer from Oxford, PA
I'm using this mainly to transfer photos from my camera to computer. I also wanted to be able to use the micro SD card from my phone in there too. For these uses, the price works for me. But it would be a better item if it did do the SDHC too. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Seems to work fine on Mac Sunday, January 04, 2009 Carrie from Sioux City, IA
I wanted a cheap card reader/writer to use with both Mac and PC and multiple cards. This seems to work fine as I transferred photos from a card to the Mac, from PC to the card, and the Mac to the card. It's compact with a very short cord, which is nice. I get tired of clunk and extra cordage lying around. All that could make it better is if it was free and made good coffee. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works for me! Sunday, January 04, 2009 A Customer from California
Works great for my 2GB SD card in my PC. Exactly what I wanted it for. ....Seamless as if I were using my card reader slot on my laptop! Buy.com came through - again - as usual! Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Good for the price Sunday, January 04, 2009 Navaratan from Jersey City, NJ
All features work except for the microSD card slot. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent product Sunday, January 04, 2009 George Hadley from Lincoln, RI
This little low price card reader for those who don't have a card reader on their laptop or even their PC is a must have. Small, reliable, easy to stash away in your laptop case and very inexpensive. A small cloth bag would be helpful to keep it in and away from dust. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 AAAAAAAAAAA Best Price, Good Product Sunday, January 04, 2009 ragusowe from Hollywood, Florida
Read ok all my SD and MS cards.

5 of 5 Awesum product!!!! Sunday, January 04, 2009 Viidhya from Herndon VA
I got this product for just $7.99 and to be honest was a bit skeptical about it as I had purchased 2 other readers for arnd the same price and they disappointed me to the core.
So with all suspicion I tried this reader and woah! it worked like a charm.
Was easy to use and detected all my memory cards(from MS Pro Duo to MMC)
I am really happy with the purchase and is really worth more than the $8 I paid for it.
Must have for everyone who is lazy(or forgetful) to carry a USB cable for each camera/mobile fon.
Must have for all techno/gizmo freaks! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good value Saturday, January 03, 2009 AB from Gibsonville, NC
This device works well.
Unfortunately, the usb cable is too short. It would be nice if it was at least twice if not three times as long as it currently is (roughly 2 inches) so that you could velcro it to the top of your laptop on a permanent basis. This would keep the cord from being in a bind and make it easier to use. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very good product for the price. Saturday, January 03, 2009 A Customer from Savage, MN
Worked really well with my cards Was this review helpful?
2 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 2 of 5 Does not work with SDHC Thursday, January 01, 2009 Warren from Meredith, NH
This card reader does not work with high capacity cards - which is the reason I bought it. I wanted to move videos to 4BG or 8 GB micro SD cards, but it does not work for that. Buy.com should have made this clear on their site. Was this review helpful?

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 for regular SD card only Tuesday, December 30, 2008 A Customer from houston,tx
Pro: the card reader is cheap.
works on memory stick and SD memory card
Cons: This reader does not work on sandisk extreme III SDHC cards. I tried the 8G verserion and it does not read.
I end up have to buy a sandisk memory card reader that will
read that.
just beware if you have sandisk extreme SDHC card...
As for other SDHC card...I am not sure. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Kind of slow Tuesday, December 23, 2008 anon1 from NY, NY
Read speeds for MicroSD are approximately 3.4MB/sec using HD Tune.
Slow compare to the internal reader on my laptop, which gets 6.4MB.
Also, this DOES NOT read MicroSDHC.

3 of 3 customers found this review helpful. 2 of 5 OK, but does NOT support SDHC cards Saturday, December 20, 2008 biosavvy from DC
This is a decent little reader. It's a little smaller than a stick of gum. The cable is pretty flimsy, so like the other reviewer I don't see this unit lasting too long. I have tested it with MicroSD, Memory Stick, and SD cards they all work fine. However, SDHC cards DO NOT WORK. I tried two different brands of 4GB SDHC cards to no avail. I will look for something else to you with my digital camera cards.
It is a decent cheap unit for what it does. I dropped the satisfaction rating due to the lack of SDHC support. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Flimsy cable, otherwise a solid product. Friday, December 12, 2008 Nate from Detroit, MI
I have the IOGEAR-branded version of this product, but aside from the plastic they're identical. The lack of an activity LED doesn't bother me, but it takes some getting used to.
The cable is pretty thin, flimsy stuff, and right out of the package was showing some signs of stress. Buy.com's photo of the Aluratek model shows the same, minor crinkling near the connector. I don't expect this unit to be around for many years, because of this.
Having a native MicroSD slot sure is nice, so there's no juggling with adapters. And unlike most other SD/SDHC readers I've tried, this one has never falsely claimed that my card was write-protected. Despite the less-than-durable cable, this is my favorite reader because it Just Works. Was this review helpful?
