5 of 5 Best "Radio" you could own. Wednesday, September 09, 2009
Phil from East Providence, RI

This thing is a blast. I am an longtime shortwave and AM radio fan. It has them all beat. You can spend hours listening to thousands of stations around the world with crystal clear sound in stereo if available. All nicely catagorized by location and genre. Great big bright display. Excellent sound and lots of connections in the back to add powered speakers, headphones and line outs. Right down to the remote control everything is well done. And it has a cool funky design.

2 of 5 Had to return it Monday, July 27, 2009
Rob from Peterborough, NH
After reading all the great reviews I decided to take a leap of faith. I am disappointed I have to be a dissenting view...I really wanted this product to work because I would have bought four more of them. Pros: Setup and the menu were easy to navigate with or without the remote and the sound quality from the one speaker is pretty good. The selection of radio stations in phenomenal, I was just barely scratching the surface when I returned it. Handled my WPA encrypted router with no problems. Cons: As someone else mentioned, the display is very bright and cannot be adjusted. It is either off or light up the room bright. Didn't think this would be a big deal but it is if you are using it in your bedroom. Second issue was using it with my MP3 player, they claim it works with MP3 players so I expected an auxiliary jack (my fault), instead it wants you to connect your MP3 player through the USB port on the front of the unit. The radio did not recoignize my MP3 player (it's older) so I am completely SOL. The main reason I returned it though was that it kept losing its IP connection and I had to keep resetting the unit. I would program the alarm clock at night but by the morning it would lose the IP and instead of music I would get some soft beeping alarm. I updated the firmware but that did not solve the issue. This happened the first three days I tried to use it so back to the seller it went.

5 of 5 What I've been wanting for the past 20 years. Friday, June 26, 2009
Rayn from SF, CA
I've been using Banshee Screamer Alarm on my computer for the past 10 years waiting for something that didn't require an iPod and allowed me to play my own MP3s without having to leave a plugged in MP3 player on praying that when the morning rolled around it would actually work. Easy to set up, easy to browse stations, easy to connect to WiFi. This is pretty much what I've had in mind if I were to build one of these. So far I have no cons. The only thing I would've done differently is stick the USB port on the back, or have an SD card slot so you didn't have something protruding from the front. But those are just options. This product is awesome.

5 of 5 Great Product Thursday, June 11, 2009
Davy from Holladay, TN
I live in a rural area and I got this to listen to talk radio at night when I'm going to sleep because broadcast stations fade in and out. This thing works flawlessly. It has a ton of features. As if the 11,000 or so stations it gets through v-Tuner, you can stream music from your computer through WMP-11. This thing rocks! It does exactly what I was looking for. The 4 stars for ease of use are because the menus could be a bit easier to navigate. It's not difficult, it just takes a couple of extra clicks. Great product. Solid and reliable.

5 of 5 FANTASTIC!! Thursday, June 11, 2009
Joseph from Rogers, AR
I listen to 99% Christian music, and local stations have a limited selection. This device is great as I can listen to my favorite stations from around the world, without being tied to a computer. Easy set up, great sound. Happy as can be!!

5 of 5 A good solution! Wednesday, June 10, 2009
Ben from Atlanta GA
I bought this radio so my dad who is from Hong Kong can listen to Hong Kong radio stations. It works very well and I can pick up close to 10 Hong Kong radio stations. Before buying this, I use a laptop but the volume is too low with the laptop. This radio is very loud and the sound quality is pretty good. Hook up is very easy and it allows me to enter the password to my wireless network just like my computer. It also supports wired Ethernet that is a plus. It also auto sets the date time so there is no need to set the time after a power failure like my other alarm clocks. The only small complain I have is it doesn't have a battery backup so I cannot bring it from room to room without power off and on and reconnect to the network.

5 of 5 Works Like A Charm Friday, June 05, 2009
Chris Buckley from Matawan, NJ
The only complexity is that you should upgrade the firmware driver from their website. It is a zipped or compressed file. You do not have to open or unzip it. Copy it to a USB thumb drive and plug it into the front of the radio. Go into setup on the main menu of the radio, select advanced and then firmware upgrade and it will automatically extract the file. As of June 2009 the current version 1.31, even though the website says that it is 1.7! You need this to work the alarm portion. The radio works great with either wireless or RJ45.

5 of 5 Nice option for a clock radio alarm! Sunday, May 10, 2009
K from La Crosse, WI
We've been Sirius subscribers for years now and were contemplating putting (yet another) sirius satellite radio (and subscribing, etc) in our bathroom for 'getting ready' time in the mornings. We bought this internet radio a couple of weeks ago and it rocks. There are tons of great options for stations, it has an alarm (haven't used that yet), and we don't have to have another subscription for sirius. One warning - we had an insecure wireless network (no neighbors) and it didn't like that - we had to make it secure for it to work. I love the stations - something different than what we are used to.

5 of 5 GREAT Internet Radio Thursday, March 19, 2009
Larry from Tampa, FL
I've had this internet radio up and running for a couple of weeks now. It was a simple physical set up as well as getting it to connect to the wi-fi system in my house. The information on its screen assists with the set-up. I usually pre-read instructions prior to setting up something new...then follow along the instructions as I actually do it. Having done things right the first time, all worked very well for me. But, I thought it not a difficult task at all and could have done it successfully without the owners manual. The operation seems easy enough on a day to day basis. I would certainly recommend this internet radio to others.

5 of 5 WOW! Amazing Internet Radio Thursday, March 05, 2009
ceprise from Langhorne, PA
Purchased this for bedroom radio, not for alarm clock. Set up as wireless client on WEP encrypted home network. Make sure the key is entered EXCACTLY. Remote can do both upper and lower case letters. Programmed in one room, unplugged and moved to bedroom, still retained key and favorites list. Display can be turned off with pre-set delays. Good sound at night time listening levels. Can only access stations listed on VTuner.com web site, so check out their stations list before buying. Could not connect on hotel unencrypted network with login screen until I called NetAdmin and had him grant access. Wide spread in prices so check around.

5 of 5 Just what we wanted Sunday, January 18, 2009
ASH from Cortland, NY
We can't pick up the signals for several FM stations here so the streaming internet radio is perfect. Don't care about the clock so that isn't an issue. The instructions could be better (i.e. the "heart" button is on the remote, not the radio itself) but one can figure it out with a little thought. Once you go through the effort to find your stations and put them in the favorites folder, the operation is easy.

5 of 5 Great Product Saturday, January 17, 2009
A Customer from Baltimore, MD
Excellent product for the price. All of the important features are there--wireless/wired connectivity, memory stick mp3 player, media streamer, etc. I wish it wouldn't forget the wireless password when you switch between wired and wireless, and, yes, the display is too bright...but these are minor issues. Great to be able to get better stations than the ones available locally. Took me a while to realize I could add URL's of other streaming audio sites at aluratek dot vtuner dot com and it would show up on the Internet Radio. Great feature!

5 of 5 Change Is Here Tuesday, December 30, 2008
Paul M from Huntington, CT
In my opinion, this radio provides a solid alternative music source (future of radio). Wireless makes it all so easy. Just wanted the music and could not care about the clock radio features or the unit's speaker capability. Hook up to good computer speaker system or your home stereo system, pick a music genre, choose your favorites, and sit back, crank it up and enjoy. The Blues, Oldies and Smooth Jazz are excellent and the variety is very welcome. Sound quality on some stations is truly exceptional. Great way to discover artists and outstanding music you may never have experienced otherwise. Highly recommended for any music lover (whether you were one years ago, or currently). This unit will help you to enjoy music all over again.

5 of 5 21st Century radio/alarm clock Monday, December 22, 2008
A Customer from New York, NY
What do you call a radio/alarm with countless Internet and FM worldwide radio stations plus the ability to play MP3s from a USB drive (shuffle feature would have been nice) and connect it to external speakers? It is the radio/alarm for the 21st Century! It is also easy to use.

4 of 5 Very good product; a few negatives Tuesday, December 02, 2008
Troy Lowell from Ocala, FL
I've long wondered when a product like this would arrive: a clock radio that can connect to the internet. It's a great first attempt with significant positives and a few negatives. Pro: Easy setup, even with WEP wireless security. Connects to an enormous number of streaming internet stations with great ease. Sets its own time to atomic standards by NIST (including daylight savings, etc). Pretty good sound for the price. Will connect to your computer's WM server to play MP3s. Has a USB port for more mp3 options. Comes with a surprisingly useful remote! Has external speaker and headphone ports. Con: Backlight is EXTREMELY bright and I can't sleep with it. Fortunately, you can turn off the backlight at night, but if you want to know the time you have to grope for the right button, which is not easy (there's quite a few on top and they all feel the same). No battery backup for time; if there's no internet connection after a power outage, there's no time. There's no button to display the clock once you're into the menus; you have to wait for the menu to time out (about 30 seconds) to see the time. It won't remember the last station played; you have to navigate the menus to play a station every time (but there is a favorites list for FM and for internet stations). Slightly pricey for what it is. Overall, I'd buy it again. I bet Aluratek will make it even better over time.

5 of 5 The next generation of the Alarm Clock Radio! Monday, August 11, 2008
Josh Turner from Meggett SC
This is the next generation of the alarm clock radio. Think about it... how may clock radio's are out there that you have to try to tune in an am/fm signal. It's about time this product arrived to the market place! Most homes have a wifi signal as does mine and I was thrilled when I received the unit plugged it an and I was instantly connected to more than the 11,000 internet radio stations available around the world. I was listening to musice from China, Phillipines, India, Europe and it was all crystal clear! What an amazing concept. There were so many genres of music to choose from and I found country's I never even heard of listd so it turned into a little geography lesson for me in addition to bein fun. There is also a USB port you can connect USB flash/thumb drives with MP3 or WMA music files and has a media server feature built in that allows you to stream your entire music library from your computer as if 11,000 stations weren't enough. I take this with me when I'm outside grillin up some food or I'll plug it into my home theater to listen to music from around the world as it has RCA out. Just in case you don't have wireless you can also plug in an ethernet cable as well. Let me tell you how much fun this product has been for myself and the family. We make a game out of it guessing which country the music is from! Fun Fun Fun...

5 of 5 Amazing Technology Thursday, July 17, 2008
Divad from Boston, MA
Internet radio is very popular in Europe and Asia so I decided to give this Aluratek radio a try...I couldn't believe how easy it was to set up. I just turned it on and it detected my wireless connection. It even searches for MP3's on my network so I can stream music from my office computer to this radio. It's simple to navigate through all the features with the remote. It's super easy to search stations by country and by genre. Instantly get access to over 10k local internet radio stations around the world and it's all free. This is a product that everyone should have in their house. I don't listen to AM/FM anymore.
