This monitor is the best you can get for the price. Acer is one of the best LCD manufacturers from Taiwan, where %50 of the world LCD production are from.
Who said monitor has to have speakers build-in? If you care, go pay another $200 for a speaker system that goes with your $200 LCD monitor then. Was this review helpful?

While not quite at the level of quality of monitors that are twice its price, this is still a very good monitor at an unbeatable price. The picture is bright and the colors are rich. I've ordered several of them and have yet to see a dead pixel. Was this review helpful?

The reason you get a Flat panel LCD is to save space and to get current technology. This monitor is missing one and only one thing, that is the speakers. It doesn't matter if the speaker is not powerful. For those that are not looking for a cluttered desk and doesn't care about quality of sound or blowing their ears off this will not work.
You have to have integrated speakers to make it worth the while but not NECESSARY. I will not buy one of these... Was this review helpful?

I wanted to try an LCD for a long time, but I could not find one with a fast enough response time that I could afford. Since this monitor would be used mainly for games I needed a fast enough monitor to avoid 'ghosting'. At 14ms this monitor has worked great! And at an affordable price. Was this review helpful?

to give a monitor just one star because it has no speakers is nuts! who gives a #$@# monitors are not supposed to have speakers. If they do, the speakers are tiny and have no real sound quality, so what's the use?

This is a great looking monitor, but BEWARE - the on-line technical specs state "Built-in Devices - Stereo Speakers". According to the manufacturer, ACER, model AL1714CB does NOT even come with speakers. If you don't mind NOT having the built in speakers, this is a nice monitor at a great price.
