Editor's Note

In this slick political thriller, an emotionally disconnected, aesthetically refined master thief is out for one final score before retiring to his treasure-lined hideaway. But during a robbery at a mansion near Washington, he witnesses a bizarre sex murder involving the President of the United States. As the president's slimy handlers frantically cover the crime up, the career criminal--and only outside witness--becomes the Secret Service's prime target. His relationship with his estranged daughter hangs in the balance. Adapted from the best-selling novel by David Baldacci.

Professional Reviews
USA Today
"...Eastwood gutsily stages the extended opening slowly and methodically..." 02/14/1997 p.4D

New York Times
"...[A] strong cast, lively rejoinders and moments of discreet panache....Mr. Eastwood's own performance sets a high-water mark for laconic intelligence and makes the star seem youthfully spry..." 02/14/1997 p.C5

Los Angeles Times
"...Sleek and satisfying....Almost a drawing room thriller, unhurried and genteel but enlivened with suspense and surprising bursts of sly, even biting, humor..." 02/14/1997 p.F1

Chicago Sun-Times
"...ABSOLUTE POWER is a tight, taut thriller with a twist....Eastwood does a difficult thing: He makes a thriller that is not upstaged by its thrills..." 02/14/1997 p.35

Chicago Sun-Times 7 of 10
...Eastwood does a difficult thing: He makes a thriller that is not upstaged by its thrills. Luther Whitney is a genuinely interesting, complicated character--not just an action figure. What happens to him matters to us, and that's worth more than all the special effects in the world. - Roger Ebert

ReelViews 7 of 10
...an intriguing story told in an effective manner. It's entertaining for the most part, sporadically clever, and occasionally gripping... Eastwood's approach is slow and deliberate; he develops characters and relationships and doesn't rely on cheap gimmicks to generate tension. The favorable result speaks for itself. - James Berardinelli

In my opinion Absolute Power is one of Clint Eastwoods best movies. The writing is excellent and the viewer feels like they are part of the action. I would highly recommend this movie to any adult.
