| | | He Finally Found The Perfect Girl. Features: DVD, Pan and Scan (TV Format), Widescreen, French, Spanish, Subtitled, Commentary, Trivia, Theatrical Version, Trailers Paul Morse (Jason Lee) is a good guy. When his friends throw him a wild bachelor party, he just wants to keep his conscience clean--which is why he's shocked when he wakes up in bed with a beautiful girl named Becky (Julia Stiles) and can't remember the night before. Worse than that, she also happens to be his fiance's cousin.Desperate to keep his fiance, Karen (Selma Blair), from finding out what may or may not be the truth, he tells her a teensy lie. Which turns into a bigger lie. From the bachelor party to the wedding, soon his lies are spiraling out of control and his entire life is a series of comical misunderstandings. It's amazing how much can change because of one little thing--A Guy Thing. "The collective charms of both Lee and his love interest, Julia Stiles, make the film an often-pleasant distraction." Tor Thorsen, Reel.com "An often witty and only occasionally obnoxious comedy that-thankfully-lacks the disturbing misanthropy of so many movies aimed at a young male audience." Brian Webster, Apollo Guide
 Editor's Note
Paul (Jason Lee) is about to marry Karen (Selma Blair), by all accounts the perfect woman. Yet at his bachelor party, he finds himself smitten by a clumsy Tiki-girl, Becky (Julia Stiles), and wakes up hung over the next morning only to find her in his bed. Guilt-stricken by the situation, he would like to tell Karen what he did. The only problem is that he doesn't remember what happened. As Paul tries to find out the truth, the discovery that Becky is actually his fiancée's cousin is all the more shocking. And to make matters even worse, Becky's psychotic ex-boyfriend, Ray (Lochlyn Munro), is a crooked cop who is determined to get Paul out of Becky's life by any means necessary. Ultimately, Paul must decide whether to marry Karen and take the logical next step, or to take a cue from Becky and embrace his more spontaneous and creative side. This slightly quirky romantic comedy from director Chris Koch (SNOW DAY) features a healthy dose of slapstick from Lee, who is well-suited for the role. James Brolin appears as Karen's macho father, and Julie Hagerty plays Paul's mildly flaky mother.

| | Professional Reviews | USA Today "...There's enough chemistry between the leads, a few ludicrous plot twists and a fair amount of laughs to entertain audiences..." 01/17/2003 p.16DSight and Sound "...Julia Stiles brings poise and intelligence to Becky..." 05/01/2003 p.45-6 San Francisco Examiner 7 of 10 A Guy Thing is a good movie that occasionally appears poised to turn into something better, or at least edgier. Here and there amid the lightly amusing fluff, you will find an unexpected quirk, a perversely amusing flourish, or a totally twisted supporting character. - Joe Leydon James Berardinelli's ReelViews 3 of 10 It takes a truly awful motion picture to nullify the considerable appeal of Lee, Stiles, and Blair, but A Guy Thing has what it takes. These three have enough talent to rebound from a debacle like this, although it's questionable whether the same can be said of director Chris Koch. If ever a romantic comedy is going to fail at the box office, this is it. The movie isn't a guy's thing, a girl's thing, or anybody else's thing. - James Berardinelli
