5 of 5 Awesome Product Thursday, December 06, 2007
Michelle Marcellino from Burbank, CA
The Netgear Powerline is a fabulous product! We had difficulty with our standard Netgear, i.e. lost connections, not reaching far enough, etc. This product solved ALL of our problems.

5 of 5 Couldn't be any easier Thursday, August 23, 2007
sad1170 from Long Island, NY
I am not technically savvy and was dreading all of the configuration I anticipated would be part of setting this up. It couldn't have been any easier or worked out any better than it has. If you can plug something into an electrical outlet and can plug a cord into 2 devices (the booster and the router), you are more than capable of using this extender. Yes, it was that easy - true plug 'n play. I highly recommend this product.

1 of 5 Poor Tech Support Monday, July 23, 2007
A Customer from Redondo Beach, CA
I am running osx and own several Netgear products. Until I purchased the range extender I havent needed technical support. The one time I needed them they just were not there for me. I made many attempts to get them to help me resolve an issue with wep security but they truly lacked the ability. Before contacting them I tried to use their online support and each communications with me started with okay I think I have a better understanding of what the Problem is. They couldnt even begin to grasp the fact that I was running osx and the issue was never directly addressed or resolved. It was kinda like Mac doesnt exist so I will never buy a Netgear product again. If your thinking of buying this range extender it works for the most part but if you need technical support you may find yourself on your own.

4 of 5 If you manage to get it set up, works great Friday, June 22, 2007
A Customer from St. Louis, MO
I bought this item after researching various ways to extend my wireless network throughout my 3 level home. I was initially going to buy a repeater from D-Link (I have a D-Link wireless router), but found out that it required a specific firmware version (old) that was no longer available. Despite this shortcoming, they still advertise that their repeater is compatible with the DI524. So the good - the Powerline idea is great, and hardware set up is a snap. Just plug in the two components, one next to your router (which also connects to the router) and one where you want to extend to, and you're ready. The bad - The software set up if you need custom settings (eg. have security enabled) is a different story. 1. I intermittently had difficulty accessing the web-based configuration page. There seemed to be a problem with an IP address conflict (and the range extender switched to a different address from the default), but I had no way of knowing this. If you use the provided set-up CD, it helps because it tells you what that IP address is. 2. Re-setting the system to factory defaults seemed to be unreliable as well. I had to do it multiple times to get it to take. Later, I found out that you have to hold down the reset button for 15 seconds for it to hard reset (only found this out after digging through the online manual), but nonetheless, it didn't work every time. In the end, I did manage to get my system up and working with WEP security, and it works great. I get 100% signal around the access point just where I need it, but have found that it can be more directional than I'd like. Overall, I would recommend this product, but only to people who have at least some technical experience, as the software configuration can be frustrating (and the Quick Start guide is not all that helpful).

5 of 5 Plug them in and they work Wednesday, May 02, 2007
KC from Cedar Falls, IA
It couldn't be any simpler. Run a network cable from the router to one unit. Run a network cable from the other unit to the computer's network connection. The two units communicate with each other via the AC power line. I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever. They have been running on my network continuously for over 6 months now without a single glitch.

5 of 5 Easy to configure....and portable Wednesday, August 09, 2006
J E Preston from Chicago, IL
As mentioned in the other reviews, this is the easiest wireless range extender to set up. Plus, you can plug the wireless adapter anywhere! And if you need to cover another spot you only need to unplug from the current location and plug into any wall outlet in the new area you want coverage. You can also add another wireless adapter for any additional coverage. If you're looking to go or expand your wireless network, you have to check out this product!

5 of 5 Not that easy Tuesday, September 20, 2005
Kaz from Seattle, WA
I bought this item after seeing the other review. I had problem with making the unit work. After abount an hour of struggling, I finally figured out that I needed to change the setting to Router mode. Also make sure WGX102 has same WEP setting with other wireless devices if you use it. Since then it's working fine and I'm pretty happy with this product.

5 of 5 Greatest thing since sliced bread Monday, August 08, 2005
Rick@mignano.com from Barrington, IL
I have been wrestling with solutions for a few months. Trying to get wireless to both ends of my home. After running wires that didn't let us assign an IP address I decided to try this solution. I couldn't believe that it was as easy as plug it in to an outlet and an ethernet connection and then plug the other unit into an outlet anywhere else in the house. That's it. Done.....It works Awesome! Buy it!!!!
