5 of 5 Works great Saturday, January 24, 2009 Dennis from Gilbert, AZ
Connected up easily. I connected the system to the standard definition output of a Directv HD box in my Master Bedroom. My wife can now watch all of the SD stations in the kitchen and we can get rid of one large satellite box and save $5 per month. I bought another RF remote from Directv and it can operate the satellite box from the kitchen without having to align the RF link with the satellite box. I had to reset the Directv box from Infrared to RF but the box just walks you through the setup. Every thing works between the first floor and the second floor and through several walls. Tip... find a place high up to mount both ends. Then when there are a ton of people in the kitchen no one interferes with the signal. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Better than nothing, but needs improvement. Thursday, August 21, 2008 KC from Phoenix, AZ
I purchased this unit to send the L/R audio signal from my TV across the room to my stereo against the far wall.
The output on the receiver unit is extremely weak. I had to use a signal pre-amp to bring the volume up loud enough to be heard through my stereo, despite the fact that my CD player or other RCA-connected peripherals do not require this additional step.
For $130, this is not worth it.
Also, any time I walk between the receiver and transmitter, I get a POP! sound through the link as the signal is interrupted. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Wow! Buy.com does it again! Saturday, June 21, 2008 Tony from Jackson
I was fed up with my cable company blocking out stations unless you paid monthly for a regular cable box. The stations , until recently, would be received by any TV without the box - for more revenue - they said the stations are still on your package BUT you'll now need a box - WRONG! I checked around - read reviews on the 2.4 ghz transmitters - too much interference- then came across this 5.8 ghz model - as usual Buy.com had the best price and free shipping. I received the unit -FAST - installation takes minutes - the only problem I had was my 5.8ghz wireless phone was right next to the unit and caused interference , even when not in use - simply moving it a few feet away - cleared up the single. The Wireless remote feature is GREAT also - I can use my Cable remote and point to this receiver and instantly its like the cable box was in the same room. A definite thumbs up for this unit AND Buy.com Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE!! Saturday, March 01, 2008 David Light from Auburn Hills, MI
If you are like me you have too many 2.4GHz devices in your home and now they have started to interfere with your 2.4GHz video sender. So I started to look for an alternative to the 2.4GHz video sender and found these units. Since they operate on 5.8GHz there was no interference from anything and they worked great! I just replaced the 2.4GHz devices with the 5.8GHz devices and I was back in business. Having a clear picture without pops and crackles from the interference has been a God send. If I was to be critical of these units the only thing I could say is that there is some video noise in the picture, but you can hardly notice it and since this was the best deal for these on the internet I can't really complain. For the price these units are a steal! Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Works OK Tuesday, February 12, 2008 A Customer from Mason Neck, VA
The Good - I am broadcasting with this item approximately 70 feet through two walls. The signal is my cable (not HD) to a TV next to my computer station. Overall the signal transfers well. There is some interference but it is very tolerable.
The Bad - The remote transfer is useless. It might as well not exist. Also I have a cordless phone system that uses 5.8 Ghz and I get significant interference when the phone is in use.
I ultimately gave this up and am using a HAVA Titanium. This device uses my wireless connection to broadcast to my computer screen. It is a better solution for my application of being able to see the TV in my computer room. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Can you beleive it, it preforms like the manuf sta Thursday, January 10, 2008 Tom Yoder from Saginaw, MI
I bought the RF link to avoid renting another cable box. I am pleased to report the link preforms just like the manufacturer claimed. The signal goes from the first floor to the second and is very clear with no interference from other electronics. I ran it thru my tivo and the remote works very well. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 What an outstanding unit! Wednesday, January 09, 2008 Pat from Denton, TX
This unit comes "as advertised." It is very easy to install -- just plug it in using the cables provided and you are "in business!"
I had a 2.4GHz unit from another mfr and I thought it was great until I got this unit. It is installed as a repeater from a High Def FIOS box to a TV in our kitchen. The picture is much better with this 5.8GHz unit. In addition, the microwave (when operating) no longer interrupts the signal/picture. And for the final kudo, that IR repeater is great. Using the remote in the kitchen (where the receiver is located) we can change channels, volume, or even ON/OFF of the cable box in the other room.
For our purpose, this unit it is just like having a FIOS box in both rooms. I highly recommend this unit for not only it's quality but also it's value as a result of eCost pricing. Shipment by eCost was very prompt as always.
Thanks for a great product! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent!!! Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Ray Bloomfield from Coppell, Texas
I purchased this unit to replace a similar 2.4GHz unit that had recently gotten damaged, this 5.8GHz unit outperforms my previous 2.4GHz unit in every respect, the video & audio quality are clear and crisp far exceeding the performance of my previous noisy interference prone 2.4Ghz unit, this is a vast improvement, the quality of the signal is so good it's almost indistinguishable from the video/audio signal the cable. 5 of 5 Works great! Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Sandy, Utah
I'd used the 2.4 GHz Leapfrog with limited success. This 5.8 Ghz unit works great. I transmit a satellite signal to both an office on my second floor that is about 40 ft. away from the transmitter and to a workshop in my backyard where I have a TV. I was able to get both to work fine with one transmitter because the line of sight is close on both. The only issues I've had is that I've had to reset the unit (turn transmitter off and on) once since I purchased the unit a couple of months ago. Also, the remote for changing channels in the workshop is not as responsive as the ones in the house... probably because it's about 90 feet from the transmitter... sometimes you have to push the buttons on the remote more than once to get change you need. 5 of 5 Freedom from cable lines Saturday, November 24, 2007 A Customer from Tulsa, OK
I wanted cable TV in a downstairs room and to run a cable would have been a real ordeal and not at all attractive. With this I can have all the advantages of cable without the worry or look of the cable. Tried the 2.4GHz, but there was too much interferance with the cordless telephone. This solved all the problems. Very good quality and the best price I could find. Was this review helpful?

Unit works great for regular TV's but This is no hd,picture quality is good for standard 420p resolution.does not look that great on large hd televisions. wireless range works fine except for minor electrostatic interference every now and then. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Better than 2.4 Tuesday, March 27, 2007 alle tram from Loveland, OH
Easily setup and decent quality right from the box. Remember to turn the units off with the switch on the side when not in use. The receiver gets hot to the touch. Transmitter seems slightly warm. I am using at approximately 70 ft. range with transmitter on first floor and receiver on 2nd. Great savings from having to run wires. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Better than 2.4Ghz Wednesday, March 14, 2007 A Customer from Indianapolis Indiana
I had the Leapfrog 2.4Ghz system and had not been happy with it. I also have a wireless network microwave oven and all of these contribute to a very crowded frequency range. The 5.8Ghz here was the answer. I have very little interference now and am very happy with this. I do have a 5.8 Ghz phone which will cause a little interference but nothing like the last system I had. I suppose if I were to upgrade the phone system to Dect 6.0 everything would be darn near perfect! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Reception Monday, March 05, 2007 angelkiss from alexandria, va

5 of 5 Low Levels of Interruption Saturday, January 06, 2007 shmectel from Plano, Tx
Even though the distance this device is required to traverse in my home is not great the receiver does reside in a heavily saturated air traffic zone. Microwave, Wireless-G Networking, 5.8 GHz Panasonic Phone, and other kitchen appliances do not seem to interrupt the signal. Connecting the living room TV to the Kitchen TV was a snap. Very stable for 9 months. I have even purchased one for my in-laws. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy to setup, easy to love! Thursday, December 14, 2006 TD from Austin, TX
We decided to put an LCD TV in our kitchen and needed a way to beam the DirecTV signal across the house. The RF Link product was exactly what the doctor ordered. It sets up in only a few minutes and you are ready to go. Just take an extra Tivo remote out of the drawer and you are set. The remote transmitter works flawlessly. The picture quality is about 90% of normal. We tested by moving TV to actual receiver and comparing. About the only real downsides are the size of the units (could be smaller) and the fact that there are no screw mounts on the bottom so you can easily mount under a cabinet for visual asthetics. But overall we are very pleased. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It works for me Thursday, November 02, 2006 pweasel from Novi,MI
I connected the device to the two TV's and immediately got the reception that I had hoped for when researching it. Mine transmits through one wall and we have not had any interference problems from the microwave or the phones. I would definitely recommend it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good product Tuesday, October 24, 2006 A Customer from Tumwater, Wa.

5 of 5 Excellent signal distribution Tuesday, October 10, 2006 Tom Reineke from Lino Lakes, Minnesota
I had purchased this unit a couple of years ago after the 2.4 ghz
band got too crowded near my house. It works flawlessly, and
includes an IR repeater so you don't have to go out and buy a
different remote control. Recently we upgraded our satellite TV
receiver to a dual tuner model, so I purchased a second set to
allow the TV in the basement to receive satellite programming
independently from the primary viewing location. I just changed
the second 5811 to run on a different channel than the other
set, and everything works beautifully. Highly recommended! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Excellent A/V wireless device at a great price! Saturday, October 07, 2006 A Customer from Houston, TX
The RF Link AVS-5811 5.8GHz Audio & Video Transmission System with IR Repeater lives up to it's advertised transmission distance (depending on the number of obstructions between the transmitter and receiver). However; the IR repeater for the your remote control does not have anywhere near the same distance capability. Also, if someone walks between the transmitter and receiver the signal may be blocked. Delivery met advertised shipping days. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It worked with no static Wednesday, October 04, 2006 LA_Holdem from Covina, CA
I used RF Link AVS-5811 5.8 GHz Wireless mainly for sending audio across the living room to the home thearter receiver near the projector screen to get the three front channels and power sub. I have to use two receivers and 2 subs for this home theater setup. There is no way I can run the the speaker wires across with cathedral ceiling and hallways between walls. The audio was clear with no static. I have to switch to channel 2 to get a clear reception. Excellent product. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Like having TIVO in two rooms Thursday, September 28, 2006 A Customer from Pleasanton, CA
I use my AVS-5811 for TIVO. Transmitter hooked up to TIVO. Receiver in the other room. I bought a 2nd TIVO remote for use in the 2nd room, and the whole setup works just as though I have the same TIVO box in both rooms. Picture and sound quality are just as good in the 2nd room. Highly recommended! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 RF Link 5.8 GHz - Excellent Tuesday, September 26, 2006 rmrockwell from West Palm Beach, Florida
Very good & stable audio & video. Range is quite impressive even through plaster walls. Highly recomend RF Link 5.8 GHz. Could use RF output port for certain applications like older VCR's, etc. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Love the RF Link AVS 5811 system Thursday, September 21, 2006 arcinc442 from Lockport, NY
Just received the RF Link 5811 transmitter/receiver system from Buy.com. I was worried how well it would work, but it's fantastic! I have my transmitter on my main TV, which is about 40 feet away from my kitchen TV. There are three thick plaster walls between them and it wors great. The picture and sound are just as good as if I ran a cable. The set up was a breeze; I just plugged in both units, aimed them at each other, turned them on, and BAM - I had TV in the kitchen. I love it - no hassle with trying to run cables to a part of the house that would have been a pain to wire. I highly recommed this system. I also have a 5.8 Ghz phone, and as long as you don't stand right next to the TV while you are on the phone, there is no problem. If you have reservations like I did about how well this product will work, then put them to rest and buy this system. You will be very happy. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 RF Link AVS-5811 5.8GHz Audio & Video Transmissio Saturday, September 16, 2006 A Customer from Woodbridge, VA
This is a great product. Takes a little setup to get the right spot for the signals to sync, but the picture and sound quality are perfect. I have the transmitter in one bedroom upstairs and the reciever down in the basement which is two floors down and everything works as advertised, even the remote control. That took some moving around, but it works great. If you have a 5.8 gig phone, you may get some static until you move some of the components around, but its worth it. This is much better than the 2.4 gig system I had before. No interference from the microwave, or bluetooth phone. I will buy another one for the other bedrooms. For my hard earned money....its worth the price and hassle of unsitely wires or paying the cable company to run them. Was this review helpful?

1 of 5 Not happy at all! Wednesday, April 19, 2006 A Customer from New York, NY
I have my cable box (only one) installed on the third floor of my house. I wanted to watch my cable TV on the first floor. The total distance between the transmitter and receiver was about 40 ft. The installation was a "no brainer". After positioning the antennas so that both could "see" each other I got pretty decent signal on my TV hooked up to the receiver. The whole thing worked for about one half an hour and then the signal went bad to the point that it was not viewable. I powered off both boxes and waited for about an hour. Then I tried the whole thing again. It worked for some time and then it stopped working. Changing channels didn’t help. It seems to me that when the transmitter gets warm (or hot), it stops working! My infra red remote controller never worked either. It is possible that I received bad unit. I ended up returning it. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 This product is faulty by design Thursday, April 13, 2006 James from Moreno Valley, California
Getting it out of the box and plug it is a breeze and works wonderful but only for a limited time. After a few days, it becomes completely inoperable, and useless. The problem is that one can not know if the problem is the receiver or the transmitter or the cables. However, I noticed the receiver getting very hot while the transmitter is just warm to the touch. I have returned two of them because of the same problem. There must be something wrong inside the deteriorate after a few days. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Two thumbs up... Saturday, December 03, 2005 Troy from Lakeland, Florida
Wonderful, no problems; works as advertised. If, like me, you have a wireless DSL and cannot use a 2.4 GHz transmitter/receiver system, this is the product you need. The picture is crisp, the sound uncompromised, and the IR extender a boon. If you must use a wireless audio/video system, then I highly recommend this product.
I am transmitting about 50 feet (same floor) between one wall and the back of a book case. There was no tweaking needed. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works well, with occasional static Sunday, November 06, 2005 hanweck from New York, NY
I use the product to avoid running wires across the apartment from my cable box, DVD player, and VCR to a flat-panel display. The receiver is operating at a distance of about 12 feet from the transmitter with more or less clear line of sight.
The picture is very clear with the unit set on channel 1, but channels 2-4 experience heavy interference. On channel 1, I occasionally get a burst of interference if someone moves between the transmitter and the receiver. (Cats seem to pose a particular problem -- could be the static charge in their fur?) Electrical storms also create bursts of interference.
No interference from/to cell phone, 2.5GHz wireless phone, 5.8Ghz wireless phone, B/G 2.4GHz WiFi, microwave oven, neighbors' equipment, etc.
Easy to set up, worked straight out of the box.
The units run quite hot; turn them off when not in use. Was this review helpful?

Also everytime i get in the way of the link (walk pass), it does interfer with the signal. Maybe I have too much iron in me? Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works nice, but limited Wednesday, August 03, 2005 Tom from Fort Worth, TX
Overall, I'm happy. It works as designed and couldn't be easier to setup. It's not perfect however. The IR mouse broke apart almost immediately. Then the corner of the little circuit board that's inside the IR mouse broke off. Thankfully I was able to re-assemble it and it still works. It seems very fragile.

Though I'm satisfied, my initial desire was to transmit from a TiVo from which there were several walls (about 6 or 7) to transmit through to get to my TV with the receiver. It was able to receive the transmission, but the signal was shaky, fuzzy, and therefore unacceptable. Adjusting the antenna's didn't help. So I ended up transmitting from my other TiVo from which there was only 1 wall to transmit through. Result: very good picture.

I have only used it for one day, but the audio signal seems a little weak. I have to turn the TV volume up higher than I do when using other TV inputs. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Will wonders never cease! Saturday, July 30, 2005 randual from Hansville, WA
I bought the RF Link AVS-5811 5.8 GHz Audio & Video Transmission System, connected the transmitter and receiver, and they work great! The distance between units is only about 20 feet, so I was able to leave the square antennas down. There was some interference or something (like a millisecond power outage) that intermittently flashed on the screen for about 15 minutes after we first turned everything on. After that, video and audio were stable and comparable to hard-wired performance. Documentation was ok (installation amounts to just plugging things in). Still not sure exactly what the purpose of the IR mouse is. Not knowing, I plugged it in anyway. This seems to be a great product -- why don't TV's come standard with built in receivers? I don't think that people are giving this product enough credit, even though they are rating it very highly. I have wanted to watch television outside on my patio for several years, but did not want to go the expense and hassle of having it wired for satellite or cable. I knew that the 2.4 GHz models of video senders would have way too much interference from my wireless network and phones, so I did not even consider them. I thought about Sony's Location Free TV, but for the price it just did not seem like a good value. Plus the screen size is so small. I hesitantly bought a 17" LCD TV, and then this R-F Link set-up, thinking that I would again have a frustrating experience with a new technology that did not work, and once and for all give up on my idea of watching the Cubs in the comfort of my patio. WRONG. In less than 5 minutes I plugged in the transmitter and receiver, turned on the TV, and had an amazingly clear picture outside. Clear sound, too. Yes, if you pass in front of the signal it breaks up a little, but that is to be expected. I have a dual tuner Dish Network DVR box, and my remote works flawlessly with it. I am actually closer to the box when outside than I am when using the remote in my master bedroom upstairs, so no issue for me. I cannot recommend this product more highly. The ease of use is amazing, as is the picture quality. A definite must-have for people wanting to watch TV in an out-of-the-way location. Don't hesitate to give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

5 of 5 For once, something that works as advertised Sunday, July 10, 2005 A Customer from La Jolla, CA
I'm used to wireless devices promising things that never seem to work quite as advertised. This works very well, clear video and sound and I got the IR remote part working, too. I did get some expected interference with my 5.8 GHz spread spectrum cordless phones. I used an X10 appliance module to allow me to turn off the phone while using the RF link. Not a problem for my application. Was this review helpful?

The picture transmitted is very good however, the IR extender will not work from the transmitter back to the source. 5 of 5 Excellent Product Monday, April 11, 2005 KM from Durham,NC
The audio quality of this product is excellent. It's like listening to a CD player, and there is practically no interference or noise in the background. The video quality is also very good. 5 of 5 Works great! Saturday, February 12, 2005 A Customer from Bonaire GA
Easy to set up and the TV video looks great on my LCD TV. The TV is in another room (approximately 20' from the transmitter) separated by one wall and the signal is great. I haven't tried locating it further yet but the signal appears strong and there's no interference. There's no noticeable difference in the picture from a wired connection. The remote extender works great too. I can control the VCR (as the tuner) from another room. I'm very happy with it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Product... Saturday, January 15, 2005 technogeek from chicago,il
I initially tried the 2.4ghz models and the picture was not so great. Then I tried this product and what a HUGE difference. There is very little loss of picture quality - in fact as long as you're not right on top of the tv set, I can't even tell. The picture is sharp, and if your a/v source provides stereo, the RF-LINK will broadcast in stereo. My units are about 40 feet apart and has to go through three walls - highly reccommended. If you have cordless phones in your home (especially if they are 2.4 Ghz) or wireless internet Lan, you will need this 5.8Ghz system to get almost zero interference (do not get the common 2.4Ghz because they do not work together). This system is a good quality product that provides good reception with almost no interference. The RF remote extender also works well and you can change the channel from the receiving end with no problem. Was this review helpful?

Pro: Effective and easy to install.
No interference with local WiFi network or other RF Link AVS-5811 system on another channel.
Good signal penetration through brick walls.
Remote signal repeater works great.
Con: Can be difficult to aim antennas at maximum range, but once you find the "sweet spot" system works well.
System would benefit from a wall mounting bracket sor both the transmitter and receiver. Was this review helpful?
