5 of 5 One of the Best Sci-Fi Shows Ever! Friday, September 23, 2005 Archie from Fort Collins, Colorado
When I first heard about this show, I was a little hesitant. I mean, flying pyramids, Egyptian gods in space, a wormhole device? However, once I gave it a chance, it became one of my favorite shows! It combines so many of my favorite things including tension between military and scientific minds, Egyptian and Norse mythology, space travel, science, and classic sci-fi material. The acting is good (Richard Dean Anderson is particuallarly hilarious!) and the plots are interesting. If you are a fan of sci-fi, mythology, and space, this show is definatly for you. See it! Will SG-1 out do Star Trek? I loved the movie and I love the series. I cant wait for the 3rd season to get started. This is a very good scifi program. we need more good programs like this on TV. Was this review helpful?

This is a very nice package that allows the buyer lots of episodes in a small package. I only wish more TV series would be released this way. Stargate SG-1 is the television spinoff of the motion picture "Stargate". Usually TV adaptations pale next to the cinema versions but this set holds up quite well. The only warning I might make for parents out there, the first disc (which is the pilot episode) has a brief minute of female nudity. Nothing crude mind you but there is no mention of it anywhere. All the other episodes are pretty much PG. The actors in this series work very well together and there is a military feel to the sets that adds a bit of realism. SG-1 is a group of 4 men and women who travel to different worlds via the Stargate, an ancient artifact from our distant past. There are hundreds of stargates scattered throughout the galaxy and it turns out that humans are not the only ones utilizing them. The special effects are excellent and the sets are way above average for TV. Many of the storylines are thought provoking which is what good sci-fi is all about. If you like Trek or Babylon 5, I think you will enjoy this set very much. My only question-where is season 2? Was this review helpful?

This DVD set is a great addition to any DVD collection. The episodes are in letterbox, which is very nice. I would have liked more special features on each DVD. There were cast interviews and some behind the scenes, but it wasn't anything really extraordinary. I also experienced some video and audio glitches, but they were nothing too distracting. I would still recommend it to anyone who loves the series. Was this review helpful?
