Hits such as Whitney Houston's "It's Not Right but It's Okay," Pink's "There You Go," Moby's "Bodyrock," and TLC's "Unpretty" mix with club-oriented tracks like La Rissa's "I Do Both Jay & Jane," Shannon's "Give Me Tonight," and Gigi D'Agostino's "I'll Fly With You." Remixes of Sarah McLachlan's "I Love You" and Beth Orton's "Central Reservation" round out this mostly mainstream, but occasionally quirky set of dance favorites. ~ Heather Phares | | The makers of the ULTIMATE DANCE PARTY series are ever-reliable for a party-hearty dance mix, and the year 2000 edition of the sequence is no exception. ULTIMATE DANCE PARTY 2000 takes remixes of everything from pop hits, to rave anthems, to R&B bedroom jams, to musical icons, to lesser-known alternative hits. | | The compilation begins with a bouncy interpretation of Amber's classic club track "Sexual (Li Da Di)," and progresses on to incorporate the predictable hits from Pink, TLC, 112, Whitney Houston, Santana and Deborah Cox. However, the compilation also includes reworkings of both a classic Bob Marley sunsplash ("Sun is Shining"), and a memorable '80s Shannon dance track ("Give Me Tonight," expertly reworked by the able Hex Hector). Moby's effervescent "Bodyrock" fits in perfectly next to a spacey mix of Sarah McLachlan's "I Love You." The album's high point comes with Joe Clausell's reworking of the title track of underappreciated British chanteuse Beth Orton's CENTRAL RESERVATION. | | Ultimate Dance Party includes dance tracks and remixes from Bob Marley, La Rissa, Whitney Houston, Beth Orton, the Pet Shop Boys, Moby, Sarah McLachlan, Ace of Base, 112, and Simply Red.
