With Jackson's latest single, "Call on Me" featuring St Louis Rapper Nelly, appearing on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, the R&B superstar is now tied with R.Kelly for scoring the most top 10 singles (38) on the noted chart since Billboard began deriving chart information from Nielsen Soundscan data in 1992.

20 Y.O. marks the anniversary of Janet's career making 1985 album Control, reteaming her with her original collaborators, legendary hit makers Jimmy "Jam" Harris and Terry Lewis, and Grammy award winner Jermaine Dupri.

Album Notes and Credits

Notes & Personnel Info
Muze PNote Personnel: Janet Jackson (vocals); Terry Lewis (various instruments); Paul Jackson, Jr. (guitar); Bobby Ross Avila (keyboards, bass guitar); Jimmy Jam (keyboards); Issiah "IZ" Avila (drums, percussion).
Muze PNote Being the sister of one of pop music's all-time biggest superstars hasn't intimidated Janet Jackson in the least. In fact, Janet churned out a string of successful albums throughout the 1980s, '90s, and 2000s that kept pace with the changing sounds, looks, and trends of the times (which is more than can be said for Michael). 20 Y.O. is Jackson's 11th album, and with a title that roughly indicates her tenure in the commercial limelight, Jackson's accrued confidence and strengths as a performer make a strong showing.
Muze PNote Janet declares on the spoken intro to 20 Y.O. that she wants to "keep it light" and "have fun," and to that end the album boasts plenty of club bangers. "So Excited" and "Get It Out Me" are cases in point, with each sporting the spare, electro grooves ubiquitous in the early 2000s. Such tracks dot the disc, thanks to top-shelf producers like Jermaine Dupri and Terry Lewis, among others, but Jackson's way with a slinky ballad hasn't diminished, as "Call On Me," a duet with rapper Nelly, proves. Jackson's music sounds fresh and modern, with its pop instincts in tune with the contemporary market, almost as if she were, herself, 20 years old.

Producer: Jam & Lewis; Jermaine Dupri; Manuel Seal; Bobby Ross Avila; Matt Marrin

Engineer: Ian Cross; John Horesco IV

Bio

In the wake of Michael Jackson's monster success with THRILLER, most of his brothers and sisters tried their hands at launching similarly styled solo careers, with varying degrees of success. But the only one to become a major recording figure of her own (and achieve staying power) was Michael's youngest sister, Janet Jackson. One of the biggest and most successful recording artists of the 1980s/'90s, Janet also launched a successful film career, with major roles in such popular films as POETIC JUSTICE and NUTTY PROFESSOR II.
