4 of 5 Compact and cheap Tuesday, September 29, 2009 A Customer from Redmond WA
JacobsParts Inc shipped the item right a way.
The unit I received will not work with 320 GB hard drive. JacobsParts Inc should consider updating their spec sheet. Since, I am swaping out the 70 GB and replace it with 320 GB in my notebook, it won't be an issue.

5 of 5 Good Enclosure Saturday, September 19, 2009 Srini from Austin TX
I had two 80GB IDE hard disks from my broken laptops. I ordered one of this enclosure to check if I can make use of these hard disks as a portable usb drive. It was very easy to fit in the hard disk into the enclosure and my computer recognized this as a USB hard disk immediately. The data transfer rate was very good. The only hitch on this product is that there are no screws to attach the hard disk to the enclosure. So the hard disk keeps coming out. I did some bit of drilling on the enclosure to put in two new screws. Now it is holding the hard disk. Recommended product Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good product Saturday, August 29, 2009 Sanjay from King of Prussia, PA
My creative mp3 player with 40GB IDE HD died. So I pulled out the hard drive and converted it to external USB with this kit.
Now I have an additional backup store. Works great. Great price too.

My Thinkpad T42 died, and I bought this to recover the data from my hard drive. I picked this brand purely based on the price. It worked wonderfully. I plugged my drive into the enclosure. I had a little bit of trouble getting my drive to fit inside the enclosure, but I think this was because the screws around my hard drive were too tight to undo, so I left them in. I managed to close it anyway. I didn't use the screws and screwdriver that came with it - I assume they're meant to secure the drive in the enclosure. I plugged in the USB cord to my new Thinkpad, and I could access my old data just like from any other external drive. The aluminum case is very thin, so the sound and vibration of my sad hard drive whirring away was amplified, but again - I blame my drive, not the enclosure. It didn't come with any instructions, but it was easy enough to figure out what to do with it. All in all, a great (and affordable) solution to my problem. Was this review helpful?
