The All-American Bowl was an annual post-season college football game played at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, from 1977 to 1990. The game was known as the Hall of Fame Classic from 1977 to 1985. Favre drove the Golden Eagles to the N.C. State 20. With Southern Mississippi forced because of the failed conversion to try for a touchdown instead of a field goal, Favre was sacked by N.C. State's Mark Thomas as time expired.
