Toshiba 47HL167 - 47" REGZA 1080p LCD HDTV - 8ms Response Time - ATSC/NTSC Digital Tuner - Black

I've had this set since early July of '07 and couldn't be more pleased. I waited to review this set until I had had it a substantial amount of time in order to get a true feel for it. Picture quality is superb even on standard def channels and HD will make your eyes bleed it is so sharp. Set up is a breeze, the remote is good. I've had none of the problems I've read about (display failure, "green" tinge) on other sites, I'm guessing people with problems tend to post more than those with none. The only cons are viewing angle (colors begin to fade when sitting to the side) and the factory speakers are weak. If you have a sound system this won't be a problem. In fact, the reason I'm back at buy.com is to look into purchasing a "52 or better for the living room and put this '47 in the bedroom. These Regza Toshibas are a real bargain.

Love the tv works great. Great picture would recomend to anyone. no problems, no dead pixles. Very easy to use and set up. Compared tv at bestbuy side by side and this one has the best picture of any of them.

Have had this TV for a month - love it. Picture is GREAT!!! I could list 100 positive items - it's that good. The only negative I can find is that the bottom mounted speakers sound weak - so I have to play TV at 45%+ on the sound to hear it well.

This is a great TV for the price that buy.com had. The list price, eh - not so good. That being said, the picture looks great. The sound - no. I figure that Toshiba expects that you are going to run the sound through a surround system, which I am doing. Then it sounds great. I do like the fact that its speakers are so small that you don't even realize they are there, it looks very nice. But, if you are relying on the TV speakers for your main sound, you will be disappointed. Prolly true of most flat screens anyway. I was a bit disappointed that it did not have the TV Guide feature like my Toshiba projection widescreen. All in all though, this is a very nice TV. The picture is fabulous, the features and inputs are good and the cabinet looks great. You won't go wrong with this one.

I did the usual due diligence in selecting an HD TV and frankly, there were several brands that would have served but good old Buy.com ran a sale on this Toshiba at just the right time for me and I'm glad they did. The picture is startlingly clear. I've seen many, many HDTVs in the stores but spending hours in front of one really tells the tale, it's literally like seeing real life in some instances, the depth and clarity are superb. It's so good it can get a little creepy at times, during a close up of the red headed guy on Miami CSI I got a really nasty shot of the makeup caked hairs in his ear, HDTV isn't all a bed of roses. I've only had it a few days but just couldn't be more impressed. I haven't begun to use all the features available but there are some I've run across that weren't advertised like the fact that when you mute the sound, closed captioning automatically starts scrolling so you don't have to miss anything when your boring uncle calls and natters on for 30 minutes. Another great feature is the way Toshiba handles stretching a 4.3 input to fill the 16.9 screen. You are given four methods of doing it but the one that works best keeps the center of the screen in perfect proportion and gently stretches the edges out to fill the screen. The processing is so smooth you can't tell it's been done. This TV is infinitely adjustable, more so than I'll ever use, the built in speakers are amazing and it even has a processor that elevated voices over music and background sound. I think I'm running out of space so I'll quit but let me just say this is a major league TV, no give ups on this one.
