In Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Matthew McConaughey finally plays a character who takes full advantage of the fact that he looks like Matthew McConaughey. True, the handsomely sculpted slacker has played immature Lotharios in the past. But those dudes usually applied their casual charm on one woman (Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker) as they sought a fortune in pirate treasure or superficial fluff of that nature. Not Connor Mead. McConaughey's latest egocentric womanizer has bedded thousands of girls in the name of casual play, and they all come back to haunt him on the eve of his kid brother's (Breckin Meyer) wedding in Mark Waters' Ghosts. read the full review

Give Beavis and Butt-Head creator Mike Judge enough rope, and he may just hang himself. In his first live-action outing, Judge does a fair job at making sick jokes about corporate America, he just doesn’t seem to make enough of them, ultimately leaving Office Space a bit flat. Straight from Swingers, Ron Livingston makes a surprisingly good Everyman as Peter, so sick of his job (“In a week, I’d say I do 15 minutes of real work.”) that he goes to a hypnotherapist for relaxation treatment. Of course (and the trailer doesn’t tell you this), the therapist dies while Peter is under, leaving him in an ultra-relaxed state without a care in the world. read the full review

We all play it at some point, devoting countless hours and resources to it, only to fail a majority of the time. We enlist the help of others—friends, books, websites, seminars, etc.—but even with such help we still end up utterly lost. There doesn’t seem to be a fixed set of rules, and when we think we’ve found a set, countless exceptions pop up and throw said “rules” out the window. Aiding and abetting our frustrated attempts are well-meaning friends who encourage us through assurances of our likability, our attractiveness, the other person’s stupidity, etc. So why do we continue to play this game? We play in hopes of finding that ever-elusive thing called love. read the full review
