When the lights come on at the 20,000-seat Ratliff Stadium, the city of Odessa, Texas shuts down. Streets are deserted and stores close early so that everyone can crowd onto the sparse campus of Permian High School to cheer on their Panthers. In this small, barren town, Friday night football is bigger than life. Based on journalist H.G. Bissingers best selling book, Friday Night Lights examines the craze surrounding the teams bumpy road to the 1988 state championship. For these players, excelling at football is the only ticket out of their dilapidated desert town. All of Odessas residents are motivated to do their part to help get them out. read the full review

Mr.Woodcock | | | Starring: Billy Bob Thornton Seann William Scott Director: Craig Gillespie | | Format: DVD Release Date: 2/10/2009 | | Video Reviews Available: 1 | | Mr. Woodcock - DVD Review By: Ed Perkis - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 1/18/2008 12:31 PM | | Thornton gives his usual good performance and seems to be able to play this sort of knowing jerk in his sleep. Sarandon and Scott actually seem to be sleeping and don't interact as if they even know each other, much less act as mother and son. My Name is Earl's Ethan Sulpee plays the grown up version of Farley's gym class buddy and fellow victim, but doesn't have much to do. read the full review

| | 14. School For Scoundrels (Unrated Fullscreen) | | | Starring: Billy Bob Thornton Jon Heder Director: Todd Phillips | | Format: DVD Release Date: 9/16/2008 | | School for Scoundrels (Unrated Ballbuster Edition) - DVD By: Rafe Telsch - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 2/14/2007 8:35 PM | | Todd Phillips just might be the best comedic director to appear on the scene for years. First he revived the road trip and frat-house comedy sub-genres (Road Trip and Old School respectively). Then he made one of those rare television to film adaptations that was actually pretty good (Starsky & Hutch). For his latest trick, School for Scoundrels, he manages to accomplish something that was previously thought impossible: getting a decent performance out of Jon Heder, an actor whose fifteen minutes of fame should have ended after Napoleon Dynamite. read the full review | |

Bad Santa | | | Starring: Bernie Mac Billy Bob Thornton Director: Terry Zwigoff | | Format: DVD Release Date: 10/10/2006 | | Bad Santa (Director's Cut) Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 10/17/2006 10:13 PM | | Christmas movies are a time-honored tradition within our society. They all contain the same morals, and end with singing, laughing, and a sense of generosity towards fellow man. The happiness is sticky, gooey; a wad of chewing gum hooked to the inner walls of a bleeding heart. If you're like me, disgusted with such cookie-cutter creations, and desire a true holiday classic, then Bad Santa is the film for you. read the full review
