Stephen Chows Shaolin Soccer was a unique genre potpourri in which sports films, The Matrix, and science fiction anims all irreverently coalesced into a frantically funny tale of victorious underdogs. The filmmakers signature cartoon craziness an idiosyncratic mixture of Buster Keatons physical comedy and Dragonball Zs lunatic action likewise permeates Kung Fu Hustle, a similarly ridiculous medley of gangster pictures, musicals, and martial arts films. read the full review

Reader reunites Daldry with his The Hours screenwriter, David Hare, and the two collaborate on another aloof, literary period picture. The action transitions between 1995 and 1958, when 15-year-old Michael Berg (David Kross) first comes under the spell of Hanna Schmitz (Kate Winslet), the stern but attentive woman who paid him a bit of kindness after the boy was felled by Scarlet Fever. Their kinky relationship is fueled by carnal and intellectual curiosity. read the full review

The show starred Ellen Muth as George Lass, and 18-year-old girl who was killed in a freak accident: a toilet seat falls from an airplane mid-flight, zooms down to Earth, where it strikes George and kills her instantly. George becomes a grim reaper, charged with harvesting the souls of the about-to-be-deceased before they actually die, to spare them pain. read the full review

For those in the latter category, 7th Heaven is pure rapture. The show follows the alarmingly huge Camden family as they live, laugh, and love their way through their eventful, oft-complicated lives. The family’s patriarch is the Reverend Eric Camden (Stephen Collins). He is, of course, the senior minister at Glen Oak Community Church. Eric’s wife Annie (Catherine Hicks) helps hold it down on the home front. read the full review

Obviously, this is a sequel to the 2005 Paul Walker-Jessica Alba beach-bums-become-heroes movie. That film was one of the dumbest movies ever made, but it was released theatrically and featured actors of at least mediocre ability. Into the Blue 2 is a direct-to-DVD attempt to cash in on what the studio must think of as the "high-caliber Into the Blue brand," even though the original grossed a sparkling $18 million. This one stars Park Avenue mannequins who pose their way through a non-existent terrorist plot involving a nuclear warhead(!) and buried treasure. read the full review
