Stasiewski - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 5/14/2007 1:36 PM | | The film is one that spans a millennium. From the story of a Spanish conquistador (Hugh Jackman) sent to the Mayan territories in search for the Tree of Life to a narrative involving a man (Jackman again) traveling to a nebula in search of the Mayan underworld, the films ambitious scale is unbelievable. Yet the romance at the center of it all, a contemporary love story about a research scientist (once again, Jackman) trying to cure cancer to save his dying wife (Rachel Weisz), grounds the film. The combination results in revelations and heartbreaking truths about mankind.

 | | 13. Vacancy (Blu-ray) | | | Starring: Kate Beckinsale Luke Wilson Director: Nimrod Antal | | Format: Blu-Ray DVD Release Date: 8/14/2007 | | Video Reviews Available: 1 | | Vacancy - DVD Review By: Ed Perkis - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 8/18/2007 9:49 PM | | Although Vacancy incorporates a lot of what a thriller fan has seen in other movies dating back to Psycho and beyond, it does corner the market on serial killers as marriage therapy. David and Amy begin the movie tossing bitter comments back and forth due to a tragedy in their recent past, but that is all forgotten once the butcher knives come out. When not running, ducking, or crawling for their very lives, they renew their love for each other. Since there isn't much else going on plot-wise, it's better than nothing. read the full review | |

 | | 14. Primeval (Blu-ray) | | | Starring: Brooke Langton Orlando Jones Director: Michael Katleman | | Format: Blu-Ray DVD Release Date: 6/12/2007 | User Rating: 5 | | Primeval - DVD Review By: Daniel Solomon - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 6/14/2007 11:11 PM | | The promise that comes from that brilliant line on the cover of Primeval is completely and brutally dashed by the film's end. It seems like it would be a no-brainer to make a film about a humongous, man-eating crocodile into something either fun or scary. It would be only the act of a true moron to screw such a premise up. Well, apparently director Michael Katleman is the type of person who could trip over a cordless phone or get hit by a parked car. Through sheer force of stupidity, he has made the impossible possible. read the full review | |
