Set in the apocalyptic future of 2012, Death Race imagines a flawed and brutal penal system where private corporations run prisons for profit and inmates at the Terminal Island Penitentiary are forced to compete in a televised, NASCAR-esque sprint to the death. read the full review

Unlike its immediate predecessors, which have retooled (Unforgiven), remade (3:10 To Yuma), revered (Open Range), and re-imagined (The Proposition) the genre, Ed Harris' Appaloosa is simply content being a good Western. It's unapologetic of its formula, unwilling to waver in its characterizations, and unhurried in its pace. It tells a story you've heard before -- more than once -- but it handles its business with rugged aplomb. That ought to be enough. But for some reason, it isn't. read the full review

Sure, elements of the film aren’t all that stunning and there’s nothing particularly earth-shaking about this David Koepp project, but it does mark Gervais’ first opportunity to lead a picture and it is uplifting and amusing. read the full review

There will likely be people out there who will like The Bucket List. They will like its easy-to-follow premise, the hollow and overplayed jokes that occasionally come rumbling along, and the AARP-approved folksiness. And they'll really like Jack Nicholson, mugging for the camera as though terrified people will forget that he's still that same devilish old scamp he's been for longer than most moviegoers have been alive. This is not to say that the reason The Bucket List is a terrible film is because there are so many people out there predisposed to liking it. read the full review

Death at a Funeral sees Oz returning quite comfortably to comedy without all the trappings of an A-list cast. It sees him returning to ensemble comedy for the first time since The Muppets Take Manhattan. And while Matthew MacFayden's Daniel may not be Kermit the Frog (although they both end up herding goofy supporting characters), Death at a Funeral is no less satisfying for its trouble – though I don't remember Fozzy Bear ever wandering around naked and tripping on a rooftop.

| | Fountain (Widescreen) | | Videos/DVDs: See more matches | | | The Fountain - DVD By: Daniel J. Stasiewski - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 5/14/2007 1:36 PM | | The film is one that spans a millennium. From the story of a Spanish conquistador (Hugh Jackman) sent to the Mayan territories in search for the Tree of Life to a narrative involving a man (Jackman again) traveling to a nebula in search of the Mayan underworld, the film’s ambitious scale is unbelievable. Yet the romance at the center of it all, a contemporary love story about a research scientist (once again, Jackman) trying to cure cancer to save his dying wife (Rachel Weisz), grounds the film. The combination results in revelations and heartbreaking truths about mankind.
