Why Don't I Earn Super Points With Buy.com's Guest Checkout, PayPal Express, and Google Checkout?
Certain payment methods bypass our checkout process and take customers off our site for payment without logging into their accounts here at Buy.com. PayPal Express, and Google Checkout all work this way, and it is currently not possible to earn/redeem Super Points when customers checkout with these types of payment methods. We will continue to work with these partners to allow Super Points through use of their alternative payment systems.
Where can I use Super Points?
Super Points you earn/accrue at Buy.com are only valid on Buy.com and not currently valid on Buy.com's International Sites or Rakuten's group sites or with any other third party site.
What are Super Points?
The Super Points program is our way of thanking you for your loyalty. The more qualifying purchases you make on Buy.com, the more Super Points you receive. Once your points mature, you can redeem them and use them to pay for new orders on Buy.com. Super Points are broken down into two types: Standard Points which apply generally to all purchases (subject to the general restrictions and excluding purchases where Promotional Points apply) and Promotional Points which are awarded under special Super Point promotions.
How do I earn Super Points?
You earn Super Points by placing orders on Buy.com. Most purchases qualify. No enrollment is necessary but certain restrictions apply, including these:
- You must use a Buy.com account (guest checkout orders do not qualify)
- Orders paid for with PayPal Express, or Google Checkout do not qualify
- Purchasing gift certificates do not earn you any Super Points
How is the earn amount determined?
The number of Super Points that you earn is calculated like this: (item price x quantity selected x earn percentage). Shipping fees, tax and any other fees associated with your order are excluded from the calculation. The percentage for Standard Points is usually 1%, but from time to time Buy.com may offer special promotions that give you back even more Super Points in the form of Promotional Points.
Promotional Point offers cannot be combined. Only one Promotional Point offer per order can be used.
Rakuten Super Points are not cash or currency and cannot be transferred, credited to an account, redeemed for cash, or used for gift card purchases or redemptions. Super Points cannot be combined with any other cash back program. Super Points accrued under Buy.com accounts which have been terminated or closed are not valid.
How do I find out how many Super Points that I have accrued and that are available?
You can check your Super Points balance at any time:
- Click on the My Account link in the header of any Buy.com page.
- Click on the Super Points Account link.
- Enter your account information.
- Your accrued balance of Super Points and your available balance of Super Points once they have matured are both displayed.
Please remember that your points take 15 days to mature.
How do I earn SuperPoints for writing a product review?
When you write a product review, we’ll award you SuperPoints! Just click on the Write a Review link on a product page and submit your review. Once the review is approved, the Superpoints will be deposited into your account. See below for restrictions.
What kind of review should I write? Does it need to be positive?
No, the review need not be positive or negative. But it does need to comply with the restrictions listed below.
What kind of restrictions apply?
Each unique review must contain a minimum of 250 characters, excluding extra spaces, punctuation, emoticons, etc. The review cannot be vague and must be specific to the product being reviewed. Duplicate reviews, even if used for different items do not qualify. Reviews placed by an automated system will not qualify for the SuperPoints promotion. It must not contain any inappropriate language, hate speech, irrelevant information, or be libelous in any way.
Currently, you can earn SuperPoints on a lifetime maximum of 100 reviews written after 5/10/2011. Past reviews do not earn SuperPoints. Remember that points are not transferrable and can not be consolidated from multiple accounts.
Buy.com, at our sole discretion, reserves the right to reject or delete any review for any reason, and to deny or deduct points associated with rejected or deleted reviews, without restriction and without prior notice.
Do Super Points expire?
Standard points expire after 180 days from shipment unless you make a purchase within that time period. If you make a purchase within that time period, all unused standard points are renewed for another 180 days from new order shipment date. They will expire again unless you make another purchase within that period.
Promotional points may have shorter expiration dates, depending on the promotion. Promotional points do not renew regardless of your subsequent purchases on Buy.com.
How do I redeem my Super Points?
It's easy. 15 days from shipment date, your mature available Super Points automatically display in your cart and also on the checkout page when you complete your purchase. You can choose how many Super Points you want to apply to your balance when you pay for your order.
What is the minimum and maximum Super Point redemption?
The minimum number of Super Points that you can use to purchase something is 50 Super Points. The maximum number of Super Points that you can use to purchase something is 25,000 Super Points per order or 100,000 Super Points per month, whichever is lower.
Can I pay for my order with a mix of Super Points and gift certificates?
You can pay for your purchase on Buy.com with a mix of any of the following methods of payment:
- Super Points
- Qualifying method of payment such as a credit card (see How do I earn Super Points? above for qualifying payment methods)
