You can save your Points up to get the things you want for free or you can pay for part of your order with Points to get a discount – we let you decide how to use your Points!

Why do you call it Rakuten Super Points? Shouldn’t it be Buy.com Super Points?

That’s a great question! If you’re not familiar, Rakuten is the largest online shopping mall operator in Japan and they have a killer reward Points program! Since Buy.com is now part of the Rakuten family of companies, we’ve adopted their reward Points program and we’re hoping you can help us grow it! Even though we’re part of the Rakuten family, keep in mind that any Rakuten Super Points you earn from Buy.com can only be used for purchases on Buy.com.

How do I use Rakuten Super Points?

You can use Points just like cash on our site to buy the things you want! Simply, log in and shop Buy.com like you normally would. When you are ready to checkout, you can apply your points to your purchase. If there is a remaining balance for your purchase, you can use either a Credit or a Debit card to complete the transaction. Rakuten Super Points are only redeemable on our site and, as much as we would like them to be, Rakuten Super Points are not redeemable for cash. Also, they can’t be transferred to different accounts so make sure you are logged in to your correct account when you make purchases.

How many Rakuten Super Points do I need to buy things on Buy.com?

Well, it’s pretty easy; 100 Points are worth $1. And we have great news. You can use a mixture of Points and other payment methods when checking out. For example, if the value of the merchandise in your cart is worth $40, then it will take 4,000 Points to cover the cost of the entire purchase. To view your Point Balance, go to the “Review Your Super Points Balance” link in the “My Account” section on our site. Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy and fun to see how much you save!

Are there limits to the number of Rakuten Super Points I can use per purchase?

The minimum number of Points that can be used per transaction is 50 Rakuten Super Points, which would equal $0.50 of your purchase. Also on that note, the maximum number of Points that can be used per transaction is 25,000 Rakuten Super Points which is equal to $250 of your purchase.

Keep in mind that you can use up to 100,000 Rakuten Super Points per month for all transactions on Buy.com, which would be a total per month savings of $1,000.

Do Rakuten Super Points expire?

After you make a purchase, the points you earn under our standard 1% (1X) campaign will expire after 180 days. And, we have some good news - those points will renew for another 180 days if you make another purchase. Basically, those points won’t expire if you make at least one qualifying purchase every 180 days. The expiration date for pending points does not renew. You will get 180 days to use the pending points once they mature, though.

The only exception to this rule is points earned in our special promotional campaigns. Since these awards are so high, they often have unique expiration dates. Because they don’t renew, you’ll want to make sure to cash in on them quickly! You can easily check on the expiration dates for these when you Opt In to specific promotions.

How do I earn Rakuten Super Points?

Earning Rakuten Super Points is really easy! As soon as you’re logged in to your Buy.com account, you’ll be set-up to earn Points automatically with every qualifying purchase. We’ve automated it all so, once a purchase is made, your earned Points will be added to your account. Since we want to give you every opportunity to earn Points, if you qualify for more than one Promotion with a single purchase, we will use the highest reward value to award your points for that purchase. Basically, the more purchases you make, the more Points you earn! Keep in mind that Promotional Rakuten Super Points cannot be earned in combination with any other cash back program.

How many Rakuten Super Points do I earn from each purchase?

Since you earn Rakuten Super Points with almost every purchase, this depends on you. For every dollar you spend on our site, you will be rewarded with 1 Point. Keep in mind that Shipping Fees, Tax and any other fees associated with your order are not included in the total price when it comes to earning points.

What’s the difference between Standard Points and Promotional Points?

A point is a point; but, some promotions earn you more of them with each purchase. Our points program lets you earn with every qualifying purchase you make on Buy.com. In our program, you earn 1% (1X) cash back on almost every purchase to use toward future purchases.

Everyone loves a good Promotion and we’re no exception to the rule. We often run special promotions for a limited time. You can supercharge your Points earnings with these special promotions. Since these Promotional Offers change often, make sure you check them regularly! Also, be sure you Opt in for Promotional Offers and keep in mind that most Promotions have Item/Dollar amount thresholds as well as varying expiration dates, so pay attention to the details of the Promotion. Since rules are rules, Buy.com will void Rakuten Super Points earnings on orders that do not follow the promotion-specific details.

I’ve seen Super Point Promotions offering 3X and 5X. What is this?

It definitely sounds like you’ve seen some of our Promotional offers since our Standard promotions are 1X. For example, a promotion of 3X means you would earn 3 Points for each dollar you spend on the purchase price. So basically, you’ll be earning 3% cash back to use on future purchases -if you purchased a qualifying item worth $10, you would get 30 Points. Similarly, a promotion of 5X means you would earn 5 Points for each dollar you spend.

Promotions fall into two categories.

1. For some Special Promotions, we offer a flat amount of Points for purchasing a specific product. For example, we might offer 1,000 Points for purchasing a specific Video Game.
2. We have other special Promotions offering, for example, 3X on all purchases in a specific Category. That means if we are running a 3X promotion in Electronics, you will earn Points at 3 times the standard rate for all purchases from our Electronics Store. So, instead of earning 1 point for each dollar you spend on a new computer, you will earn 3 Points for each dollar – again, you’ll be earning 3% cash back to use on future purchases!

When I use my Rakuten Super Points, can I specify if I want to use my Standard Points or Promotional Points when I check out?

When you are cashing in your Points, the Points with the closest expiration date will be automatically applied and can easily be removed at Checkout.

How soon can I use Rakuten Super Points?

You earn Points every time you make a purchase and these Points are available for you to use 15 days after your order ships.

What are qualifying purchases?

To qualify for Points, you must be logged in to your Buy.com Account. Most items on Buy.com qualify for Points so it may be easier to tell you what types of purchases do not earn Points.

2. Orders paid for with Google Checkout
3. Orders completed with Checkout by Amazon
4. Purchasing Gift Cards
5. Checking out as a Guest

How do I find out how many Super Points I have accrued and are available?

You can check your Super Points balance at any time:

1. Click on the My Account link in the header of any Buy.com page
2. Click on the Super Points Account link
3. Enter your account information
4. You will be able to see how many points are available to you to spend and how many are pending

Pending Points are those earned in the last 15 days.

Are there other ways to earn Rakuten Super Points besides making purchases on Buy.com?

How do I earn points writing Product Reviews?

When you write a Product Review, we’ll award you 25 Rakuten Super Points! Just click on the “Write a Review” link on any Product Page, write and submit your review. Once the Product Review is approved and the Points are processed, they will be automatically deposited into your account. To view your total balance, check the “Review Your Super Points Balance” in the “My Account” section of our site.

Are there restrictions to earning Points by writing product reviews?

We do have some restrictions to ensure that the reviews posted on Buy.com help you find what you’re looking for. Each unique review must contain a minimum of 250 characters and the review must be specific to the product being reviewed. Duplicate reviews, even if used for different items, do not qualify. Reviews placed by an automated system will not qualify for Points. Additionally, the review must not contain any inappropriate language, hate speech, irrelevant information, or be libelous in any way.

You can earn Points for the first 100 Product Reviews you write, which is 2,500 potential Points that are just waiting for you. Those 2,500 potential Points equal $25 simply for reviewing the things you buy!

What is ShopTogether and how do I earn Rakuten Super Points from it?

ShopTogether lets you get feedback from your friends and family while shopping on Buy.com. Want an opinion or a recommendation on a computer you want to buy? Use ShopTogether! You’ll get 10 Rakuten Super Points for each of these chat sessions. And use it often because, we’ll award up to 100 Points each day for your ShopTogether chats.
